Not if vaccinated or under 11, you can go about as normal to work, school. Getting a pcr is recommended

It's under 18s and vaccinated people who don't need to isolate. The official rules are here

Different places in the uk have differing rules now.

In Wales the whole household has to get a PCR and isolate until they get their results, then if negative they get to go about their business as normal.

It's under 18 ½ish or double vaccinated not 11.

In Scotland a negative PCR releases you from isolation
In England you're advised to do a PCR and don't need to isolate while waiting on results

So OP, your 11 year old doesn't need to isolate.

Nerdygirl · 21/11/2021 20:28

The rules are pretty well documented . I am amazed people have to come on here to ask tbh

Actually they're not that clear. Different rules for different countries of the UK for starters make it quite difficult to navigate pages for answers, not to mention an online search pulls up advice from all different stages of the pandemic. We had a positive LFT for my under 12 kid but no PCR positive yet. He had to isolate but from reading half a dozen pages online I found out we all had to isolate until we could all get PCRs and then the negative double vaccinated adults and the negative under 18's could go back out but taking regular LFTs. A similar page however said PCRs were simply recommended.
SedentaryCat · 22/11/2021 10:06

Positive LFT for DC this morning. The advice online is muddled and confusing, so I called the school for clarification. My other DC (negative LFT) has been told to go in (he wasn't best pleased as he thought he'd have a few days off!). I have ordered PCRs for all of us.

We've all been vaccinated. DC1 is isolating in their room right now but it looks like they caught it at school.

There are different rules in different parts of the uk.

Horst · 22/11/2021 10:11

Double vaccination or under 18’s don’t have to isolate

Hodgehog · 22/11/2021 10:17

If you are in England there is literally a government website that tells you.

Where do you live? It affects the answer.
