Norway not offering the vaccine to previously infected 12-15 year olds

If they have not been previously infected then they are offered a single dose.

“Why not vaccinate 12-15-year-olds who have had COVID-19 disease?
Since recovery also provides protection against new infection, vaccines are not currently offered to 12- to 15-year-olds who have had COVID-19 disease. This corresponds to the recommendation for 16 years and upwards, where those who have undergone COVID-19 disease are recommended 1 dose of vaccine instead of 2 doses.”

They also only offer a single dose to previously infected 16-17 year olds.

This story is from a month ago.

They decided that the 85% of 12-15 year olds who have had one dose don't need a second dose yet. They started vaccinating 12-15 year olds in September so to say that on the 25th October that they didn't yet need a second dose is a bit of a "no shit Sherlock" moment. NB: It wasn't that they didn't need a second dose EVER. Just that it would be reviewed in January.
Likewise, the previously infected 12-15 year olds. The law mandated vaccination for that age group only in September, so they are taking into account infection "immunity" from September onwards. Again, with review in January.
The previously infected 16-17 year olds receiving just one dose is in line with older teens and adults in almost the whole of Europe.

Nothing to see here. Everyone move along.
See you in January. Brew

Good morning @pafmo :). It’s not a news story. It’s a link to the Norwegian guidance. I don’t remember seeing any posts about their policy on MN before and I thought others might find it interesting to see what other countries are doing irt vaccines for teens.

The vaccine isn’t ‘mandated’ for that age group btw. (I don’t actually think Norway has mandated it for any age group) Did you mean the single dose been offered to them since September?

Yes, I know other countries have been accepting a single dose alongside previous infection for a while now. And yet we’re now moving to 3 doses for adults, without any recognition of immunity from infection. So people who have had two doses and been infected are still being told they need the booster. Logistics I guess.

"The previously infected 16-17 year olds receiving just one dose is in line with older teens and adults in almost the whole of Europe."

This does not appear to be correct, according to Our World in Data.

They say "Alternative definitions of a full vaccination, e.g. having been infected with SARS-CoV-2 and having 1 dose of a 2-dose protocol, are ignored to maximize comparability between countries."

Yet still a lot of Europe have double vaccinated figures of 70% and above.

@Imfedupwithallofthis are the 70% figures for over 18s? That might be why.

You can add or subtract your own choice of countries to compare. They are for total population.
