DC age 12 tested positive for covid at the end of September. Has had negative lf and pcr since testing positive.

Has had similar symptoms nowand one negative LFT yesterday and positive today. Her friend she spent the weekend with us positive. We will isolate her and get a pcr but really? Is this possible.

Seems really unlikely but then I’m not sure why the LFT would be positive 🤷🏼‍♀️ A mum at school had covid in early August & late October so it’s not unheard of to have a shortish gap I suppose but 6 weeks..

You aren’t supposed to PCR test within 90 days of having covid as it can pick up dead virus from the previous infection but if she’s had a negative once since then I guess you are probably OK to test again now..

Reinfection rate when recorded by PHE in the summer was 0.4% so it seems unlikely but it’s possible.

Possible yes and perhaps more likely to happen to children. Out of interest is the first infection any different to the first? I hope they are better soon in any case.

I’m pretty sure she’s got it and that it’s a new infection to the most recent one. Yes, symptoms almost identical.

The symptoms are new so she is supposed to get a pcr but have been told it may be inaccurate as she’s tested positive so recently.
