Mum told to isolate

cadburyegg · 16/11/2021 15:03

My mum got notified by Test & Trace yesterday that she has come into contact with someone with covid and told to isolate. She was double jabbed earlier this year and had the booster 3 weeks ago, which T&T know about, but have still told her to isolate.

She has done 2 LFT tests, both negative, and has done a PCR test and sent it off today. Yet T&T have rung her twice today already to remind her to isolate or she will be fined.

This is incorrect, am I right?

Which part of the UK does she live in?

cadburyegg · 16/11/2021 15:05

England

I think it is incorrect. We were close contacts recently after a flight home from Malta from which some other passenger tested positive. The Test and Trace system notified us due to the Passenger Locator Forms and we had to complete a few questions.

As we were double jabbed the system told us that we did not need to isolate. We didn't.

I have since had my winter booster (exactly a fortnight ago now) so I am now triple jabbed. 😎

No, she doesn't need to isolate unless she gets symptoms or tests positive herself.

As long as its been 14 days since her 2nd vaccination (which It has) she doesn't have to isolate and should get a PCR tesr

ChristmasCovid · 16/11/2021 20:09

Has she just been told by text/email?
If so this is automated and she will receive a call that will go through her vax status and advise if she needs to isolate or not as by the sounds of it she is exempt.

Morechocmorechoc · 16/11/2021 20:22

No she doesn't need to isolate. I've been harrased by t&t, pay no attention. I told them not to call me again. Ever!

Sparkle275 · 17/11/2021 07:38

Based on the current rules and her vaccination history, she shouldn't have to isolate. Must be a mix up.

Thislittlekitten · 17/11/2021 07:40

Perhaps they meant she needs to isolate until she returns a negative PCR?

This isn’t the case in England

She has been given wrong advice

My kid had covid and I didn't have to isolate. I had to do a PCR and daily LFTs though.

NuttyinNotts · 17/11/2021 09:08

I think close contacts of people identified as having a variant of concern are still told to isolate.

FirewomanSam · 17/11/2021 11:28

How was she told?

When I tested positive all my close contacts got a text telling them they had to isolate unless exempt. It caused some panic and confusion until they looked into it and realised that the ‘unless exempt’ includes fully vaccinated people. The wording is quite unclear and I think it’s caused a lot of confusion for people. Could that be the case here?

cadburyegg · 17/11/2021 14:02

Thanks all. No, she is getting phone calls, not text messages. Hopefully the PCR will come back soon and then the constant calls will stop!

I didn't think we even had to wait for a PCR after two jabs?

I'd be questioning the person on the phone, it sounds like they haven't been trained.

dementedpixie · 17/11/2021 18:09

Sounds like they're talking crap
In Scotland its a negative PCR that releases you from isolation
In England a PCR is advised but not mandatory

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 17/11/2021 18:11

You don't need to isolate if fully jabbed. I think I would be limiting contact myself even if not fully isolating.
