Everyone in the house has come down one by one.
I got my faint positive LFT this morning.

I've felt ill for about 5 days, sore throat, cough, headache.

Today is no different but with the positive test I feel like I can't breathe properly. I know it's Anxiety, not covid. I get this alot when I'm anxious.

I'm just worried I will be one of the people that die.

I have no underlying health issues. I was BMI 41 earlier in the year, but I've lost 50lbs (BMI is now 32)
Im double vaccinated so I know I'm in a good place statistically but my anxiety is telling me otherwise.

I keep thinking in a week I could be on a ventilator :(

Anyone with anxiety been through this

Not personally, but my DD has Covid last year. She's anxious about several things and had been very scared about getting I'll and passing it on to other people. In the end she had mild symptoms and didn't pass it on to anyone!
Be prepared for the worst and hope for the best. Do you have help for shopping etc?
Your risk of being very ill is small and even if you do end up in hospital, survival rates have massively improved - there's a new treatment (I think it's available, has certainly been reported on in the news) which is a game changer.
You may feel rough, borrow an oximeter if you can. Hopefully you'll be feeling better soon. Keep reminding yourself that the vast majority of people with Covid will recover. Good luck

I was like you, I tested positive and was really scared. I had a bmi of 42 and got down to 27 so that helped along with a double vaccination.

It wasn't nice but it also wasn't so bad. I needed steroids for my asthma but other than that it was ok.

Statistically speaking you'll be fine, you are young and a much healthier weight now. Try not to stress and treat yourself kindly. Good luck with your recovery.

Thankyou. My head is finding it hard to differentiate the tight anxiety chest and covid.

I just need to try and keep calm

Dont be afraid, stay calm. I know loads who have had it after being double jabbed and it wasnt bad at all, flu like at worst. One guy ended up in hospital but he is very overweight and has chronic heart problems but even he was in and out in four days. Right as rain now and that was only a few weeks ago. As Beamur said, treatment is so far ahead of where we were 18 months ago so please just stay in your pjs and rest up, you'll be ok.

Please try not to worry. My 75 year old dad got it. He’s 21 stone, diabetic, lung issues, high blood pressure and other health issues. He went into hospital but only needed regular oxygen, no major intervention.
Chances are you’ll be absolutely fine, and even if you did need to go to hospital, it doesn’t mean you’ll need a ventilator.

Stripedfrenchfancies · 16/11/2021 16:21

Also. Get yourself an oximeter too. It will help you feel calmer when you know your oxygen is okay.

Lindy2 · 16/11/2021 16:32

I really recommend a pulse oximeter. We got one for about £15 from Argos and it was very good.

We had Covid in January and I fully understand how anxious it makes you. The worry of not knowing how it's going to go is extremely stressful.

You've done brilliantly with your weight loss.

You're double jabbed.

You're already 5 days in to symptoms and still doing ok.

Everything is looking good for you being through it very soon.

The pulse oximeter will measure your oxygen levels and hopefully reassure you your levels are ok. We found that comforting when we felt very weak.

It might be just me but I also found watching the oxygen levels and the pulse rate measure on the screen quite relaxing and therapeutic.

I hope you all recover quickly.

I just wanted to send you my best wishes. Get better soon. 💐 xx

I have anxiety and just about to finish my isolation. I had one day where I couldn't stop coughing and felt like it was going to turn into a panic attack. The first few days were hard because I was isolating from DH and DD and that really didn't help. I read a lot of books. Stay off google as my friend started telling me about people who had died with it and I had to just not respond in the end. Is there anything you can do with your hands to try to take your mind off it? I don't know about you but I find my anxiety generally is worse when I'm run down anyway so I just tried to keep calm. I hope that helps and you feel better soon.

Do get a PCR, not just a LFT OP.
People who are vulnerable due to health or high BMI get extra monitoring with covid which is triggered by a positive PCR.

Hi, I have health anxiety too. I had covid last year and felt how you are describing. Few things that helped me-

When you are really anxious, try describing something you can see in detail- ideally to another person. Go into as much detail as possible. This always calms down my breathing.

Make yourself a kind of countdown chart- like an advent calendar. Do 20 days. It's highly likely you will be fine after 20 days. Cross a box off each day you get through.

Try mindfulness exercises. They really help me when Im struggling.

One day at a time. You will be ok.

SpecialBreak · 16/11/2021 22:36

There’s a CBT app called Bloom - I use it for general anxiety but they have many programs on there for health anxiety too. They are pre recorded counselling sessions, mindfulness and exercises for you to do to help reframe your anxiety and change your way of thinking. The app has brought me relief - I’d recommend it
