Not sure about booster

So I had both vaccines, last one in May, am a type 1 diabetic and happy to have them.
Since my 1st I have had problems with my arm, got worse after my 2nd vaccine
I've been lucky in the sense that I work from home and don't mix with a lot of people so have limited my risk
Since my 2nd dose in May my arm is so painful, I can't raise it above shoulder height, can't sleep on my left side anymore, it's a constant pain
Never had any problem before regarding joint pain so am only putting it down to the vaccine
Today I got an email to book my booster jab but am wary as really can't stand any more problems, no one I know has had this after effect

Tell them about this when you go for your booster. It sounds like you were unlucky and they hit a nerve. Intramuscular injection can be given into your leg or your buttock or your arm.
Chat to them when you go, maybe into your thigh might be better?

Serenschintte · 12/11/2021 20:26

Have you reported your aim pain to vaers.hhs.gov/reportevent.html

There will be people here that will say get boostered no matter what.
The important thing is no one can tell you what to do. It’s your body and your choice to make.
I had bad headaches after the moderna and I’m not at all keen to have it again.

Have you considered that you may have developed frozen shoulder? It may be worth contacting your GP.

whatnumber · 12/11/2021 20:51

Have you spoken to your doctor about your arm?

Can you choose to have your covid vaccine somewhere other than your arm?
Now5sos · 12/11/2021 21:00

I did contact my gp and had a call back, they said it was unlikely to be the vaccine and that as I had no other problems it was maybe muscular
Will maybe ask if I can have it elsewhere, didn't realize it could be done other than the arm.

I'd also speak to your doctor again and ask for it to be looked into or at least for some exercises to be suggested

I’ve had a frozen shoulder earlier this year, I would have put it down to the vaccine, but it’s the other side. It’s finally better after about 4 months, still not 100%, but getting there.

Cookerhood · 13/11/2021 09:29

The Covid vaccine can be given in the deltoid (upper arm) or thigh (not buttock). Most volunteer vaccinators won't have been trained to do it in the thigh but a doctor/nurse/pharmacist should be able to do it .

BobandLeonard · 13/11/2021 10:16

You can get frozen shoulder from vaccination but it is not the vaccine that causes it but the way it is administered, wrong place in the arm or something, it was on one of the threads on here recently. Though it sounds like you had pain from both jabs, OP and I think this is something that happens once. It isn't specific to just the covid vaccine though.

MrsHerculePoirot · 13/11/2021 10:18

I’ve got a frozen shoulder (also diabetic) and had it not started the week before my vaccine would have put it down to that. I asked it not moving it so much or sitting in one position when working at home during lock down could have contributed and he said they weren’t sure but that they had seen a big increase of it following the lockdown so maybe!
