Hesitating to get booster now I'm pregnant

I'm pregnant and I'm suffering from HG.

I need a booster as I was in group 6 due to an underlying condition.

I was more than happy to have the vaccines back when I was not pregnant etc.

But being pregnant puts you at an increased risk of clots and in addition, so does HG, because it causes dehydration a lot of the time.

Can anyone weigh in on this ? I really want to get the booster, but it's freaking me out. I'm not getting much from any doctors/ midwife.

Maybe it's just not something anyone can really comment on, as it's all so new. But of course I understand that pregnant women are in general being urged to have the vaccine. I am guessing that also applies to the booster ?

Clots are only attributed to AstraZeneca and your booster will be Pfizer or moderna.

There is lots of info on the rcog website www.rcog.org.uk/en/guidelines-research-services/coronavirus-covid-19-pregnancy-and-womens-health/covid-19-vaccines-and-pregnancy/covid-19-vaccines-pregnancy-and-breastfeeding/

I just had my booster a few weeks ago at 21/40; I’m a HCP and don’t want covid in pregnancy with its higher risk of stillbirth, preterm birth and me being seriously unwell. There isn’t any credible data to suggest any risk from vaccination in pregnancy.

Well covid puts you at an additional risk of blood clots doesn't it?

And covid in pregnancy can be pretty dangerous for the baby.

I understand the dilemma. My default position is not to take anything at all during pregnancy.

Maybe you need to ask yourself if you can cloister yourself away, and avoid covid for the pregnant and new born 18 months or so. Or not.

I don't envy you the decision.

And I honestly don't know which side I'd come down on.

But it would hinge on my chances of avoiding covid whilst living in a country where high case numbers are encouraged, particularly in children. (Because high case numbers increase your chances of you and the baby coming into contact with covid.)

It's tough ! But I think I will ultimately do it because I really don't want to get covid ! But it scares me, especially because of the HG. I don't think I would be as worried if I was pregnant without the added issue of HG.

Different position as got vaccine early for my age group and now at 9w pregnant I cannot wait to get a booster, I wish I could get one based on the pregnancy alone as I know my immunity will be low now that it's been half a year since the second dose.

Do you have anything that works for you regarding keeping hydrated?

If not, there's a lot of experience on the pregnancy boards.

Fingers crossed the HG stops at some point.

@PrincessNutNuts thank you.

Yes this week has been a little better and I'm on some new meds and keeping more down, which does give me more confidence that I'm at least removing one risk factor ! I may wait another week and try to get myself as hydrated as possible before I get it. And obviously after too !

Oh that's good news. It must be very hard.

I just had common or garden morning sickness and I was well pleased to see the back of that.
