Has anyone else had this?

Tested positive on PCR on Tuesday, had total of 8 negative lateral flows then tested negative on second PCR today... no symptoms at all.

My ds has tested positive on PCR (done due to being a close contact) no symptoms at all and several LFTS all negative, rest of our household all negative PCR. How did you manage to rebook another PCR test? And will this subsequent negative override the initial PCR?

Has anyone else had this?

Probably not. Most people who test positive on a PCR don't go back 2 days later for another.

Tuesday test was fit to fly. Today was a standard NHS PCR.

I'm not sure if the negative overrides the positive - can't see anything online about it either

It definitely doesn’t override the initial positive. You’re not meant to test again for 90 days once you’ve had a positive.

Just follow the instructions test and trace will have given you for isolating.

Mindymomo · 12/11/2021 06:36

Don’t know why you did an NHS PCR test after a private test, but you’ve had a positive PCR so cannot travel and will have to isolate. I don’t know if test and trace contact people who have had private tests, so isolation will be 10 days after the test date, presuming you have no symptoms.

If you’re asymptomatic then I guess it’s possible you’ve had it for some time unknowingly and have just passed from the higher to lower viral load threshold which now won’t show on a test.

As said on your other thread, this negative does not override the positive. Not sure what you hoped to achieve by taking another test.
