Covid procedures in the office

I have started a new job. I have worked at this place twice before. I was a temp in the summer so know what the covid procedures were. I am now permanent and it seems quite strict compared to before.

Masks are worn walking around. The office is not to be at full capacity ever again. If you want to come in you have to book a hot desk. Mainly front office stay to work full time in the office. Drawers have been removed from the building so cannot store belongings. Coat racks have been removed. so cannot hang coat up. You have to bring your allocated keyboard and mouse to work everyday.

Anyone else have covid procedures like this?

Ours is similar but not quite that bad....we're not at full capacity because people still want to work from home and that's all been approved by the company now. We're hotdesking at bookable desks and have to bring all IT equipment except for a monitor. Masks on when walking around. The drawers at each desk have been returned but we're not meant to store anything in them (i leave my power cables and keyboard if i've got the same desk booked on consecutive days). We're allowed to hang coats up though and the showers are in use for those who cycle in. Toaster and microwave have been returned to the kitchens but we're only allowed 1 person in at a time (kitchen is tiny) and the former mens / womens toilets are no unisex so people are walking less distance around the office (it's not that big!). The doors into the toilets and kitchens are also propped open to reduce touch points.

Where I work (large employer) there are basically no measures apart from masks when walking around, and open windows. And we've moved to a lot more meetings on platforms like Zoom or Teams, but I think that's less a diktat from the employer and more a reflection of the fact that more people are wfh now when they can.

I keep moaning about how hybrid work model is the worst because of all the equipment (& any personal stuff) that has to be hauled back and forth. Every time, MNers say I'm being totally unreasonable.

I'm not surprised you've got this situation, OP. It's not what I have yet. You're probably feeling forced to drive with so much to bring how close is your workplace parking to the office? My old office was half-mile walk between so people towed trolleys for the heavy things. At least we had lockers, then, and coat racks.

We also have a 1 person in the toilet only and you have to put a sign on the door to say unavailable. It’s just hassle carrying everything around all the time. I’m not allowed to work from home. I wish I had applied for a WFH job now.
