Heart rate too fast?

Hi, I am on day 9 of having Covid now. I’ve felt pretty rubbish, temperature, awful cough, aches etc but am feeling much more myself again now. The problem is I’m so out of puff even doing the smallest of things. I have a pulse oximeter which shows my oxygen is between 97 and 100% which I know is fine but my heart rate is going above 130 which feels quite uncomfortable.
It comes back down again to between 58 and 70 when I sit down and relax.
Is this ok? Will it just settle down so that I can do more. I’m a teacher (Early Years) and am due back at work on Friday.

What are you doing when you up to 130?

lentilsforever · 10/11/2021 10:43

Only a real concern if sustained
But fact that drops to normal when resting, suggests not an issue

Thanks for replying @lentilsforever just walking into the kitchen and back or walking up the stairs sends it crazy. It isn’t taking it long to go back down again. I guess that’s a good thing.

Plus fact you are feeling better
I would stop taking your heart rate and just focus on fact you’re feeling better

It's quite common to get a fast heart rate with a fever, I had one for a week or two after the AZ vaccines

I had this with covid - up to 150 with exertion like walking to the loo. It is very common with Covid. I didn't even have a temp. With me it lasted probably 2-3 weeks but during that period was improving but still elevated. I contacted 111 as my chest felt like it was in a vice if I did anything plus this tachycardia. Advice was only worry if it's prolonged, like > 30 mins. Just make sure you are completely resting and plenty of fluids.
