Pregnant and recently had covid, should I get the 2nd jab or wait?

Just wondered what people’s opinions were on this. So I’ve recently had covid, I was lucky to have it mild. I’m 27 weeks pregnant and I’m due my 2nd covid jab next week. I’m not sure now I need it while I’m pregnant as I believe I’m unlikely to get it again while I’m pregnant as I’ll have antibodies. What do people think should I wait till after the pregnancy or have the jab anyway next week?

You aren’t able to have a vaccine until 28 days after you’ve had Covid. You’ll have to move it if it isn’t that long. Glad it was mild.

I’d get the second jab. You’ve had one already so I don’t know why you wouldn’t finish the course to give you the best immunity. You thought it was safe enough to have the first one and nothing has changed really.

I assumed you’d had it 8 weeks ago as per the guidelines. Was there a specific reason for delaying or have you been having doubts about the second jab for a while?

It might be worth reading what the RCOG say about vaccination against Covid during pregnancy.

So you had a jab before pregnancy and now got Covid mildly very recently? So you have had two definite lots of exposure to the virus.

The big question is are you likely to get Covid again in the next 15 weeks? If you get Covid in late pregnancy or post partum it can be dangerous for both you and the baby.
On the other hand, if you have had a jab plus Covid you might get stronger side effects if you have the jab at say 32 weeks. How did you react to the first jab?
I think in your shoes I would probably have the vaccine to protect myself at maybe 37 weeks. I would leave at least 28 days after having had Covid. Other countries are stating that as the minimum and Switzerland, for example, states within 3 months of infection.

Post partum period you are likely to be run down, tired and stressed so bear that in mind.
