PCR positive - can you help me stop worrying

PCR has just come back positive, I thought it would after positive lateral flows yesterday but I still feel a bit upset after being so careful and avoiding it until now.
I’m double jabbed , and recently had the flu jab, but my mind keeps thinking the worst and that it will make me really poorly.
Symptoms so far have been since yesterday morning a sore throat, strange taste in my mouth and feeling coldy. Struggling to sleep tonight because I’m worrying.
What can I expect?! Any tips? How did you stop it spreading to others in your house? Really silly question but do you need to also keep a distance from pets?

No point worrying about this. Covid can be difficult to avoid no matter how careful you are; especially if people around you are positive. Ask anyone in health care or education.

You have been jabbed which will hopefully mitigate the symptoms severity. You can't affect the symptoms etc now and some can feel weird and unlike any other illness you might have experienced.

Try to take it easy while you're I'll.

I think there have been cases of animals like cats getting covid but none that they pass it on that I've seen.

You and other family members will have to decide what steps you take to isolate but a recent study says you can as likely to pass it on to household members whether vaccinated or not. I'd take the attitude that were all likely to get infected bit that depends on whether you have anyone vulnerable at home

If it was me I'd isolate in a separate room and rest, to give yourself a) the best chance of recovery and b) the best chance of avoiding household spread.

It is impossible not to worry entirely so just try to relax, watch TV, read etc.

I've got it right now have had it a week, also double jabbed. I'm still recovering from having my baby weeks ago so imagine my immune system is low right now and it's only been mild. Have felt a bit under the weather but nothing terrible. I know of a few friends and family members who've had it recently and they've all had the same experience

I’m on day 11 now. Double jabbed and in my 50s.

I felt mainly better by day 4 but am still a bit tired now and my sense of taste/smell hasn’t returned.

Do you have any underlying health conditions op?

Also, this article might cheer you up. It’s suggesting that once you’ve been double vaccinated exposure to the virus might be the best way to maintain your immunity.

So rather than blame yourself for catching it you could see the positive side of boosting your waning immunity.
