Too early for positive PCR?

DH was with a colleague yesterday, who has had two positive LFTs this morning. His department can have face to face contact with anyone of hundreds of employees, so have done the sensible thing and sent him home as can't risk spreading covid around every department.

They've asked him to do a PCR test today, which he's done as he passes a drop in on way home. I'm thinking it's two early for a positive PCR test though - am I right?

Yes it is likely to be too early. If he was exposed yesterday I think it would take 3/4 days to show up on a PCR.

Yes, it's too early if your DH was only exposed yesterday, but possible that Covid has been circulating in his place of work last week, and that the colleague with the positive LFTs was already infectious before today. No harm in getting a PCR, just keep up with daily LFTs and look out for symptoms.

Yes, that's what I thought. Work don't want him in and can adjust what he's doing to wfh. They also sent him home with two boxes of LFTs He's cancelled what he was doing tonight just in case and doesn't need to see anyone else other than me.
