At what point do you get medical attention?

I’m 22 weeks pregnant and have Covid (yes I’m double jabbed, was due to have booster dose next week). Tested positive a week ago and now husband and daughter are positive too so we’re all isolating at home.

I’m on day 7 and just today have had some episodes of breathlessness, but that’s not consistent through the day, it kind of comes and goes. My pulse oximeter is saying 96 so I’m obv getting enough oxygen in me. But I’m getting these stabbing pains every so often in my lungs or ribs (basically that area under the boobs) that take me by surprise. I don’t know if this warrants needing medical attention?

FWIW I’m completely wiped out, sleeping several hours in the day every day. Have got headache, sinus congestion, cough and generally all over aches.

go through 111 online and it will advise you, probably it will advise a call 111.nhs.uk/

I think that is all fairly normal for covid but call 111 if you are worried.

Because you are pregnant and at greater risk, I would call 111 to get some advice. Do you have the windows open and are you getting plenty of fresh air that way? Lots of fluids too and really rest as much as you can. That is really important. Hope you feel better soon.

Do try to move around regularly keeping your chest open ..a nurse friend advised me on that. All your other symptoms are exactly how Covid affected me recently.

But as you are pregnant it would be good to seek medical advice.

Hello,
I would suggest getting checked out in an A&E (and to make your life easier go to one which has both maternity and medical units). It's probably nothing, but both pregnancy and covid put you at risk of PE and it sounds like this needs to be excluded based on your symptoms.
(A&E doctor)

Could it be your baby kicking causing the stabbing pains?

Cook4Meals · 02/11/2021 16:31

I'd call 111 for professional medical advice, but anxiety can also induce such symptoms, but pls call 111 to be on the safe side.

I would call 111 or go to A&E to get checked out. The chest pain is concerning and I’d want to rule out a PE (pregnancy and covid are risk factors) l.

Hope you start to feel better soon!
