How long after having Covid does dad need to wait before having vaccine?

I can’t find anything on this. I have 4 weeks in my head, but not sure. He’s currently Covid positive, isolation period finishes on Tuesday. His vaccine is booked in at school on 19th November (he’s 15), but wondering if I need to cancel this and rebook later? Does anyone have a link to where I can get this info? Thanks :)

28 days after positive test.

Thanks. So 28 days from the date he got the test, or the date his symptoms started? Or when his isolation finishes? Want to book his vaccine in as soon as I can

I thought you couldn’t catch covid again very quickly, eg within six months ?

40somethingJBJ · 31/10/2021 15:41

Possibly not, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t want the vaccine.

He will be asked if he has tested positive within the last 28 days, therefore he might not be able to have vaccine if his PCR test was on or after 22 October. Where I live they have just opened a big vaccine centre just to do 12-15 year olds, so maybe there will be one near you nearer the time, if he misses out in school one.

Thank you. His positive test was the 24th, so missed out by 2 days. I’ll rebook it after that at a centre.

Yes, the consent form just says 28 days after positive test but I wondered if after first day of symptoms would be ok, it’s counted like that for other purposes!

Same situation here for DD.

Her school vaccine day is 8th and her isolation ends on 6th.

I do want her to have the flu spray but will make sure she knows to refuse the Covid despite that I've already given consent. She's not good at speaking up..... so I also sent an email to school. Fingers crossed.
