Anyone immunosuppressed and not caught from household

My DS did a pcr on Tues which came back positive. I've been in close contact with him as he is autistic and he's even coughed in my face once (accidentally). I did a pcr on the same day as him and also again on Fri. Both negative but I do feel ill. I'm immunosuppressed and have had both jabs.
Has anyone else had similar and not caught covid?

Watching with interest as I am scared of Covid entering our home with a severely immunosuppressed person living here.

If you feel poorly will you do another PCR next week? I hope all will be okay.

DriftingPlateTectonic · 30/10/2021 11:11

Yes I will probably test again. I'm on immunosuppressive drugs for two different conditions, shielded as an ECV person and still rarely go anywhere busy. I was convinced I'd catch it easily.

My DH had covid last month and I didn’t catch it. As soon as he got a positive test he isolated away from the rest of the household but obviously you can’t do that with a child.

Have you had your 3rd dose or booster?

Hothammock · 30/10/2021 11:17

I have a positive child in the house, and I got ill about 5 days after him, but I'm testing negative. I don't think the tests completely reliable. Obviously I have covid.

HazelandChacha · 30/10/2021 11:27

I too am convinced our CEV person will catch it easily, I guess the best hope is that you find out ASAP so medication can be adjusted.

I read about a person on anti rejection medication who caught Covid early last year, they reduced her medication to give her system a chance to fight Covid, then increased again once she was getting over it. This was pre vaccine so have hope! She was okay in the end.

Hothammock are you going to retest?

BeyondShrinks · 30/10/2021 11:33

Not household, but I did stay with my sister the weekend before she was diagnosed - and didn't catch it.

ohtsmeagain · 30/10/2021 11:33

I am CEV and am on chemo.

DS tested positive last Sunday. I still feel fine and all tests negative. We share a house etc. He did isolate quite strictly upstairs. Fingers crossed.

BeyondShrinks · 30/10/2021 11:33

(DN also had it at the same time)

Hothammock · 30/10/2021 11:44

@HazelandChacha yes I'm repeat testing every other day. Surely one will eventually show a positive.

Redannie118 · 30/10/2021 11:55

Yeah. My adult DSD had it last Christmas after visiting her mum and grandma who were both also positive( didnt find out until she came to stay with us). Im on Cellcept high dose for pulmonary fibrosis due to systemic sclerosis. She did move back in with them for the isolation period of 2 weeks once she found out, but had been with us for 2 days by then. I was certain i would get it, but didnt.

I was convinced I would test positive. Was near the person DS caught it from, then obviously near DS. Have felt awful fatigue (over and above usual chronic illness levels). Had a temp for a day. But all LFT and now 2 pcr negative. Still keeping away from people.

I didn't catch it when my DS had it a few weeks ago. But I felt ill 2 days before he took a lateral flow which was positive (sent home as felt sick and temperature). All my LF and PCR tests were negative - all his positive.

It's bizarre.....

Crispycremedelight · 30/10/2021 17:16

I’m CEV and my husband got it March 2020, he isolated quickly 2 days after falling ill so I was with him a week whilst infectious. Kids and I didn’t get it. Antibody tests say he has no immunity to it and I do - they have very obviously mixed the results

MrsPnut · 30/10/2021 17:20

I am immunosuppressed and caught covid in March 2020, I have heard since that it is because of the immunosuppressant that I wasn’t more ill. My body didn’t attack my lungs and I recovered fairly well and didn’t need hospital. I’ve since been diagnosed with cancer (the downside to long term immunosuppressant use) and had chemo over the past year and not caught anything else since. I’ve had three doses of vaccine so far and am due a booster in 6 months.

CatAlice · 30/10/2021 17:27

Not what you asked but I am CEV, on immunosuppressive drugs and caught covid. No-one else in the house got it.

Yes they did that to me though I was given dexamethasone which is known to help covid.

RandomMess · 30/10/2021 17:28

Me and DC did and DH didn't.
