Day 5 and it’s suddenly flared up, please say I’m not stuck with it.😩

Day 6 here and clicked on your post hoping to see a miracle cure. It's just about my only symptom now. Started yesterday, but is even worse today! Mines upper back so assuming it's related to my lungs/chest but no idea really. All my other general aches and headache seem to have gone. No help, but hope you're feeling better soon!

Tr3hern3 · 29/10/2021 07:18

Yes all my other aches have gone. Lower back here. Still feel a bit nauseous and dizzy.😩

Managed to get a bit of sleep curled round with a hot water bottle propped on the painful area.

I had a really bad upper back, it suddenly went (at same time temperature came down if I remember rightly). Paracetamol / ibuprofen is your friend.

My OH is a gym bunny, always got a bad back, he swears that using cold instead of heat works better.
Instead of a hot water bottle use an ice pack, ice in a plastic bag wrapped in a tea towel and don't get in a warm bath, take an ice bath, I don't know how he can bear it but it seems to work, might be worth a try?

Off it's your lower back, I would do a dipstick test to check it's not a kidney infection.

Bunnyvenom · 29/10/2021 08:19

I had back ache with covid. No cough or temp. Lasted around 8 days.

IWishTheBishopWell · 29/10/2021 08:41

I was also going to say check it isn't a kidney infection too. I've had two, the second developed when I had Covid and it caused awful lower back pain.

Luckily on that occasion I had noticed a UTI before hand so realised a kidney infection was likely so 111 sent me to urgent care for antibiotics (I was out of isolation at this point). You can get antibiotics if needed with Covid in isolation - I developed a chest infection and 111 prescribed the antibiotics and the pharmacy delivered them.

My first kidney infection came on very quick and I didn't notice the UTI that time. It was a bit of a shock when the GP told me what was wrong! So even if you haven't had a UTI a kidney infection is still possible.

Buzzinwithbez · 29/10/2021 10:04

I've had 2 kidney infections with no UTI symptoms since I had suspected covid. The only symptom being awful back pain, which felt muscular and I wouldn't have realised it was my kidneys if I hadn't checked for infection.

I had agonising upper back pain with covid, in fact it was my first symptom as well as feeling generally a bit rough and then I developed a temp. Took about 3 days for the back pain to go, painkillers helped a bit. My sympathies to you. Trying to have good posture and also lie completely flat helped a bit.

shggg245 · 29/10/2021 19:55

Yes this is my worst symptom just can't get comfy.

IncessantNameChanger · 29/10/2021 19:58

That was my first symptom. It lasted for just over a week then went completely. I didnt know it was covid so went and slept for a few days on ds rock hard bunk bed. Load up on alternate ibuprofen and paracetamol

PammieDooveOrangeJoof · 29/10/2021 19:59

My husband and I both had back pain with covid. In fact he slept on the door one night as was so bad. Sorry all I can recommend is hot water bottle and paracetamol and ibuprofen m. Really hope you are feeling much better soon .

FindingMeno · 29/10/2021 19:59

Chest infections always give me upper back ache. Heat really helps.
