Evidencing covid status for child over 12

Butterfly44 · 28/10/2021 12:11

My 12yo has recovered from covid and due to have the one dose vaccine.

For travel how do I evidence this?

We are in the UK and at that age they can't have the UK NHS app which would show status.

Would anyone know as planning to travel next month. Countries differ in entry requirements and some expect quarantine of over 12s if they can't show evidence.

Having 1 dose doesn't make them fully vaccinated so for a lot places you'd need to act as if they are unvaccinated anyway

dementedpixie · 28/10/2021 12:15

P.s. they can't get vaccinated until 28 days after their positive test

Remmy123 · 28/10/2021 12:32

They need two doses to be able to travel without pcr test

You can get a letter by calling 119.

We’ve just organised for ds (13yo) to have a second dose in Ireland so that he can travel to the US and France,

I thought 119 won’t do letters for under 16s?

www.nhsinform.scot/covid-19-vaccine/after-your-vaccine/get-a-record-of-your-coronavirus-covid-19-vaccination-status

This gives details of how to get a letter. It's for age 12+

Schulte · 28/10/2021 14:51

Ah that’s Scotland? They seem to be better organised!

dementedpixie · 28/10/2021 14:51

@dementedpixie

Oops sorry, that's for scotland
Butterfly44 · 28/10/2021 15:39

Thanks.

I know about the 28 days.
Countries vary on rules - Some allow evidence of recovery from covid within last 180 days as equivalent; some state of only both doses as proof, some state just negative test for children sufficient if travelling with a vaccinated parent. So it's different depending on destination.

I'll look to get a confirmation letter as that's what I'm after. Just wondered if anyone had done so and who to approach.

Yep, saw the Scotland one. Not sure England has an equivalent.
