Why can't my parents get their booster?

Both well into their 70s and had their 2nd jab through GP in April, so they should be well within the timeframe.

GP isn't doing clinic this time around although they've said they hope to "soon".

The online booking system says they're not entitled yet.

What do they need to do?

It should say they are eligible 6 months after their last vaccination.

Frazzled2207 · 26/10/2021 15:00

I believe you have to be six months plus one week to be eligible to book online

MagicWorkout · 26/10/2021 15:03

[quote ElftonWednesday]Book online.

Yes that's the link that's saying they're not due but they are past the 6m, 1 week.

My DMil is in the same situation. DFil has been texted and both my Dparents have had it. Can't get her booked in.

ElftonWednesday · 26/10/2021 15:40

They could try phoning 119 to book one, OP. They should get through to speak to an actual human quickly.

Verite1 · 26/10/2021 15:41

My in laws having the same problem. Online booking service saying not eligible but they definitely are.

bumblefeline · 26/10/2021 15:41

The same thing happened to my mum. In the end the nurse done it at the same time as her flu jab. Must be a glitch on the system.

FleasInMyKnees · 26/10/2021 15:46

Same happened to my relative so she just walked into the ocal pharmacist and had booster and flu jab

LiquidSodaCrystal · 26/10/2021 15:48

I’d recommend the walk in sites. Take your white card, and it should be pretty much instant service.

Bagelsandbrie · 26/10/2021 15:49

I’m in the same situation- although I’m younger and in the clinically extremely vulnerable group. Rang 119 and they told me to wait another couple of weeks and try and book online again.

endofagain · 26/10/2021 16:00

Where I am there are only appointments on Sundays. It is going to take a long time to get through all the booster doses at this rate.

itsgettingwierd · 26/10/2021 16:02

I'm having same issue.

GP Facebook page says not doing their vaccination hub now and to use nhs services. Book through website or 119.

Can't use website unless health and social care staff.

119 say your need a letter from GP.

GP says don't contact them about a letter.

I'm 12 days past the 6 month mark.

SpringRainbow · 26/10/2021 16:04

Are there any walk in clinics near you? Pretty much everyone local to me can only get them in they go to a walk in clinic.

No where else seems to be doing/ booking them.

LemonTT · 26/10/2021 16:06

Find a pharmacy that does COVID vaccinations and ask for an appointment. They will be able to pull up your records and identify that you are eligible.

Cookerhood · 26/10/2021 16:17

Yes, just go to a walk in clinic.

Cantstopthewaves · 26/10/2021 16:19

I've just ( an hour ago) booked for my mum by calling 119 as it was saying online she wasn't eligible - but she definitely was.
Got appointment for tomorrow.

fruckkkit · 26/10/2021 16:36

My mum has the same issue. She told her GP when she was in having her flu jab this week and he tried to book it for her himself, but it still wouldn't let him do it.

PigletJohn · 26/10/2021 18:55

I expect there's an invisible queue, and you aren't yet at the front.

PigletJohn · 26/10/2021 18:59

oooh! they've added an extra paragraph!

Important

If you have not been contacted and it's been 6 months and 1 week (190 days) since your 2nd dose, please try to book your appointment using this service.

it wasn't there last time I looked.
