@theemperorhasnoclothes

Severity of disease also depends on viral dose - which is something scientists learned early on in the pandemic (and which is common with other illnesses too) and which the government have conveniently forgotten in their rush to make schools covid infection hubs.

If you've been in a school, you likely were exposed to high levels of the virus so got a high dose, so therefore are more ill. It's shit, and the fact there are no co2 monitors or hepa filters in schools is a dereliction of their duty to protect the health of their staff. I hope you feel better soon.

I was hoping it would be the opposite and that because I've been in a school I'm less likely to catch it as I've been exposed over a long period of time- can you tell I'm not a scientist!!!

My lateral flow was positive, should get pcr tomorrow. Feel awful.

Fashionista1995 · 26/10/2021 13:28

My OH had a cough last year when he had covid (pre vaccine) but was otherwise fine and able to continue working from home. He caught covid again this summer after being double jabbed and was in bed for 2 weeks so don’t think the vaccine works for everyone.

notacooldad · 26/10/2021 13:30

I had 4 days in bed. Sweating and general flu like symptoms
It is nearly 4 weeks since positive pcr and I am not quite right yet.
I'm extremely tired. My breathing is not right yet. Once I started getting up I had bad headaches but they have stopped now, I had some rashes and they are beginning to fade.
I am returning to work next week but on reduced hours.

It has been awful.

ParkheadParadise · 26/10/2021 13:36

I tested positive on the 1st of October. My breathing was my first symptom along with feeling crap for 5 days.
Last week I was sent to the hospital by my GP. I still have pains in my chest and my breathing is fucked.
I'm 44 and double jabbed.

No, another fact that the government is conveniently ignoring with their strategy of relying on the vaccine alone. No vaccine is 100% effective for all people - there will be some who don't develop an immune response. This is a very tiny number for the covid vaccine I think, but when infection levels are really high as they are in the UK, inevitably there will be some who are vaccinated but the vaccine didn't work who catch it.

I've been signed off for two weeks, as I'm having waves of absolute exhaustion and still feel weak. It's 16 days since my symptoms started. My taste and smell are beginning to come back, so that's one good thing!

Hope everyone who's unwell feels better soon.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 28/10/2021 16:18

And my first antibody test has come back saying I have antibodies from the vaccine (too early to tell if I have any from the infection).

Hopeisallineed · 28/10/2021 18:07

@Fashionista1995 sounds like the first covid bout wasn’t delta. People forget that vaccine was made per:delta variant and although does work, it’s not as effective. Everything changed with Delta.

OrangeVelour · 28/10/2021 18:46

I had it a few weeks ago (I'm 52 but not vaxed). The worst symptom for me was terrible aching legs that were so bad I couldn't sleep, but that only lasted about 3 days. I had other mild symptoms (high temp and a tickly cough), and was a bit lethargic for about 2 weeks. All fine and back to normal now. Hope you feel better soon OP.

mmhophey · 28/10/2021 23:27

Mid 40s and double vaxxed. On day 10. Never felt this bad this long. Been in bed or sofa most of the time. Floored by this virus. Strange heavy feeling in my body that prevents me from standing up doing things. Had terrible leg pains for a few days too. Paracetamol helped. Light cough but no fever. No taste or smell. Lost my appetite tidally. It's a huge effort to eat. Hoping it'll be over soon... Everyone around me is so surprised by how bad I am. People assume double vaccine means you only get mild symptoms. I thought so too. Would've been much, much more cautious if I had known.

BluebellsGreenbells · 28/10/2021 23:45

50’s double jabbed, smoker, A- blood group didn’t think I would do well with covid and have escaped with no symptoms.

Would’ve been at work had it not been a requirement for LFT’s (7 days as a close contact)

So some must work.

Donotgogentle · 28/10/2021 23:50

I felt fine by day 4 - 50s, double AZ.

Sorry for those who have been unwell with it.

Bubbublish · 29/10/2021 01:35

I'm double jabbed but ended up in hospital for 10 nights in August on CPAP. I was seriously ill with covid and pneumonia and all the medical professionals said the jabs probably saved my life. It was a very scary time. I'm so much better but not back to how I used to be. Oxygen drops very low at night which isn't good. I'm seeing the consultant again in December

FindingMeno · 29/10/2021 05:03

Sorry for those who've had a rough time Flowers
I had bad cold symptoms for a few days and slept a lot then by day 7 or 8 felt more or less better but a little breathless. Back to usual levels of activity at the end of isolation.

Hydrate · 29/10/2021 05:12

One week, the first three were the worst.

Hydrate · 29/10/2021 05:14

I should have added, second dose was a milder version, only lasting for one day.
