Antibody test question

Yamaya · 25/10/2021 21:42

I took an antibody test today which came back as having some antibodies. Could this be from my pfizer vaccines or is it past infection? I had a bad cold about a month ago, slight fever and taste went a bit strange but pcr came back negative. People I work with (science background) said it must be from past infection because pfizer vaccine doesn't create igG and igM antibodies. Is this true?

This is the test I took

As you have positive IgG antibodies, but negative IgM antibodies, this means you have likely had Covid some time ago - several weeks or longer. The top line is the Control which shows the test has worked properly.

But is this definitely from infection or could it be antibodies from my vaccines?

Did it say whether it was for n antigen (infection) or s antigen (vaccine)?

Yamaya · 25/10/2021 22:35

It doesn't say. I linked the test I used.

All antibodies are either IgA, IGM or IgG regardless of how they come about.
IgA is the first line of defence at mucosal surfaces etc. IgM is the early antibody response & IgG is the longer term antibody response.

@Yamaya

It doesn't say. I linked the test I used.
In that case you have no way of knowing.
