And if you are double jabbed how long were you poorly for?

Mid 50s - no health concerns but I feel terrible.

Help! Please share your stories?

Thanks

Lots of vitamin C, zinc and vit D. Lots of rest and keep hydrated.

If you’ve got fresh ginger, simmer a couple of small pieces in a small amount of water, drain then add lemon juice and honey to the water. Very soothing and hydrating. Take paracetamol and/or ibuprofen.

Unfortunately in my experience it was a case of riding it out for 7 days. Keep dosed up on paracetamol, drink lots of water, eat a little of whatever you fancy and rest as much as possible.

I really hope you are feeling better soon, you have my sympathy as it is such a horrible virus and seems to hit everyone differently.

**fadingfast I second the vitamins. An absolute must!

TheNoonBell · 25/10/2021 20:45

Take vit C + D + Zinc. Tons of Vit D.

Whiskey also helps take the edge off from personal experience. A shot every two hours and you will barely notice the COVID. Also good for morale.

Thanks this is amazing - just what I wanted to hear. I have ordered tons from Amazon.

I know everyone is different but on which day did you start to feel better?

I’m on day 6 and whilst I feel better than days 2/3 which were by far my worst, the last 3 days have been slow progress. I was hoping it would be clear by now but seems not. Still got lots of unpleasant symptoms and if I had to work would say I could manage about 2 hrs tops.

brusselsprout5 · 25/10/2021 22:50

My sister was still exhausted 5 weeks on. She's had a couple of sun beds (something we've never really done before) and feels 98% better! And improving daily. Worth a try if you get desperate for proper vitamin D!

That's an amazing tip! I've never heard anyone say that before. Thanks.

My symptoms have been as follows (age 50, fit & healthy, double jabbed 6m ago):

Days 1-3 tired/lack of energy, sleeping a lot, increasing over the 3 days

Days 4-6 bad cold/flu-type symptoms. 1 very bad with night chills, sweating, verging on hallucinating. Runny nose but blocked at the same time, sinus pressure, blocked ears, felt pretty awful but just about functioning.

Days 5-7 slightly better symptoms but lost sense of smell (and most of taste). Still very tired, hard to concentrate on eg working from home (mostly didn’t).

Days 8-10 energy slowly returning, enough to put a wash on, tidy up a bit, change bed. Still coughing a bit.

On day 10 today - had a tiny glimmer of smell this morning, hoping it returns soon Sad. Taste is sort of there - I can tell between sweet/salt/bitter/sour whereas DH lost everything (also double-jabbed).

16yo DD was first to test positive. She had very bad fatigue, headaches, eye aches, coughing, sweats, loss of smell and taste. She is mega fit and it wiped her out for over a week. 13yo DD2 caught it last in the household and has had mild symptoms: headaches and eye aches (less than a week so far).

SpeckleDust · 25/10/2021 23:05

I also take a multi-vitamin drink daily and seem to be recovering quicker than DH (however we had different vaccines so could also be that).

Bimblesalong · 25/10/2021 23:11

Another over 50 here. On about day 8 and similar progression to Speckledust.
Extremely fatigued and echo taking it very easy - got out of bed for the first time in a week apart from wanders to the loo/shower. Wondering if I’ll be fit to work next week (p/t but own business so two week’s work cancelled so far & needing rebooking somehow - which is stressy as I’m so fatigued).
Lots of fluids and the same vitamin cocktail as the others are recommending.

Cherrydown · 26/10/2021 07:07

I'm 3 weeks on and still feeling tired but each day is better.

Get some metatone, it helps your immune system recover, lots of smoothies, juice shots, fresh soup. Anything and everything to give yourself a boost.

Get well soon, bloody awful illness.

homealoneagain1 · 26/10/2021 10:34

Thanks everyone. I'm just not very patient.

DH and I both had Covid over the summer (more like a streaming cold). I always find spicy Thai food remarkably good at clearing mucus and cheering us up.

We also spent a lot of our day sat outside with a book (wine might also have been consumed).

Our neighbours were both advised to sit outside by their doctors in Feb/March 2020 too, but that might have been more about minimising transmission indoors than the benefits of vitamin D.

Hope you feel better soon.

52 and double jabbed. On day 4 here and feeling rough. Any suggestions as to how to get the vitamins in as I feel so nauseous? All I've managed is 5 slices of toast and 3 bananas in the last 4 days...

It just shows how it effects people differently. I feel terrible but I'm starving and eating any rubbish I can get my hands on.
