Exhaustion

My dd and both her sons (12 and15) have Covid. Her husband is fine so far. She started with two days of dreadful headache and muscle pains and now she is very very tired all the time and has high temperature.
She is eating and drinking and managed a shower yesterday but just wants to sleep all the time. She has no cough. The younger boy tells me he has a little cough and is all aching. The older one is similar to his mum.
No one really has time or energy to talk to me (understandably). I have offered to shop and drop but dsil is managing. I hope someone here can tell me if the symptoms I describe are typical and how long they usually last. They are all vaccinated.
I am 77 and dh is 85 so we have to keep away which is very hard and I don’t want to pester for updates so I hope someone here could help a bit.

Yes exhaustion is very common and can be extreme.
I found at one point that I couldn't even cope with dealing with messages from kind friends and family.
Try not to worry, covid is far nastier than many would have you believe but they will all recover. It can take anything from a few days to weeks to completely recover and the fatigue can linger afterwards. That would be the time when you might be able to help out.
On a plus note, at least now they've all had it you won't need to worry about cathing it from them

Thank you Upsky I find that reassuring. I agree it is actually worse than we are led to believe at the moment. I just hope the vaccines do a decent job of reducing severity.

@thegreylady Try not to worry too much (easier said than done, I know). I'm 48 and recovering from Covid after being very unwell. O² was down to 92/93 at one point, and I needed to contact 111 a few times. I was seriously unwell (as in unable to eat, function, do anything other than lie around) for about a week. Days 1 - 5 = unwell, like a cold, perfectly manageable with paracetamol. Days 5 - 12 = very ill, feverish, nausea, breathlessness. GP prescribed anti-emetics & Pulmicort Turbohaler. Days 12 - 17(ish) = weak but recovering. In a week, went from only eating 2 or 3 bites a day to 90% of appetite returning. Naps needed after lunch, but energy increasing daily. I expect to be back at full strength in another week or so. So yes, a really nasty illness for me, and I was lucky to stay out of hospital in spite of being fully jabbed, but full recovery will "only" take me 2 - 3 weeks. At my worst, I was too unwell to converse or see ppl, but I was grateful for pharmacy deliveries & messages of love and support. I'm sure your DD will be the same. Hopefully, this time next week, she'll be in the mend and you can pop in with meals, cuddles and offers to help whilst she recuperates. It is an utterly miserable experience for some of us, and best wishes to your family.
