How the common cold can boot out covid

Apologies if this has already been discussed here but I've just found this while searching online about colds and covid. It's really interesting and I thought I'd share.

It discusses how in theory the common cold can out compete covid. Covid is rife here and so is an unpleasant cold that's going round. We've all got/had the cold but close contacts have had covid instead. At school lots and lots of children have been off with either one or the other.

Tbh the symptoms have all been the same whatever you have but it does make you wonder if it is a thing:

That’s interesting, thanks for sharing. A bit like a natural (if short lived) vaccination.

You're welcome Smile

I found it because at the moment I have aforementioned cold and because so many of the children's friends have covid I Googled to see if you could catch covid and a cold at the same time.

We've had lots of cases at school, all same symptoms but some positive, some not. Maybe this is why ?

That’s really interesting.

Anecdotally it fits with what’s been going on in my DC’s schools. Although there could be an element of confirmation bias there!
