This is good news as my mum has just caught Covid off my son! She has had her booster.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 21/10/2021 14:56

Let's not get too excited just yet; the Reuters article mentioned: "The companies said the trial ... has not been peer-reviewed"
So for now, it's a bit like a salesman claiming that snazzy new car will do 70 to a gallon, when independent testing shows it actually does only 45

And isn't 95% what they claimed last time ...?

samyeagar · 21/10/2021 14:58

...for two months, and then you'll need another booster...

GreenLunchBox · 21/10/2021 15:07

I'm not sure I believe it. Weren't the primary jabs meant to give high protection against symptomatic disease, but most people I know who contracted covid after being double jabbed felt pretty rough with it

Ridingthegravytrain · 21/10/2021 15:09

Bullshit. Where have I heard that before

Lostinacloud · 21/10/2021 15:20

Fucking exactly! @Ridingthegravytrain

user7667781 · 21/10/2021 15:25

There are already studies showing booster gives the vulnerable 11-fold improvement in decreased chance of catching Covid and gives the healthy 19-fold decreased chance. Pretty impressive stuff Smile

Lostinacloud · 21/10/2021 15:30

But they said all of this back at the start of the year.
I don’t want endless vaccines against something I’m not at risk of and I certainly don’t want this for my children. It either works or it doesn’t, if it doesn’t then they can’t just keep putting more and more into people. They haven’t even tested multiple doses as far as I’m aware. If 2 doses causes a not unsubstantial amount of young males heart issues, what does a third and 4th dose do? I want to know this before we are all forced to get these boosters as well just so we can travel (and soon enter venues in our own country).

Are they peer reviewed?

Here is a non peer reviewed graph showing the enormous benefits of a booster!

[quote Oldgoat2021]Lilico says should lead to a significant increase in deaths, and he tends to be right:

I assume you mean decrease? This thread is confusing

Lostinacloud · 21/10/2021 15:38

And that guardian article is terrifying to me. It’s basically saying that forever more, the entire population will need to receive dose after dose in order to try and keep spread as low as possible. As the vaccine wanes it says that it becomes much more likely for an individual to catch and spread covid. To combat that, everybody needs continual booster shots to keep on top of case numbers. How is that a long term sustainable idea and is it even safe?
I just hope this all stops soon, it’s such an awful future to be facing, eternal boosters that have proven side effects and the punishment of no travel or entry to local services and facilities if you ever just want to say no to anymore vaccinations.

To top it off they are still not taking natural immunity into account and that is simply ridiculous.

PicsInRed · 21/10/2021 15:44

A booster a year is reasonable, but every 6 mos, or more? No.

Oblomov21 · 21/10/2021 15:46

Wow. That's high. Hoorah. I'm having mine next week, can't wait.

Oldgoat2021 · 21/10/2021 15:51

Oops yes Lilico says this could lead to up to a 90% decrease in deaths.

Many articles in The Guardian are intentionally terrifying. The only known solution is not looking at The Guardian.

That paper has been among the worst in spreading fear and panic for their own ideological reasons throughout the pandemic. But that's another topic.

If the third dose grants long lasting protection like they're hoping then it might be multiple years before another dose is needed, it won't be every six months.

OP posts:
Lostinacloud · 21/10/2021 16:18

Why would it though? One dose wasn’t enough so two were planned. That runs out within 5-6 months by all account so why would a third of exactly the same thing be any different?

Oldgoat2021 · 21/10/2021 16:25

Think of it as like tequila shots! The effect is cumulative and multiplying...

Dancerinthedark01 · 21/10/2021 16:32

Cumulative and multiplying to what effect @Oldgoat2021?

fournonblondes · 21/10/2021 16:36

Wait and see approach for my family.

Ridingthegravytrain · 21/10/2021 16:57

I think it was very telling when sajid said get your boosters not only to stop people dying but for your freedom. Hmmmm
