...when did you start to get better? Came down with it on Friday, today is the worst yet. Cough, headache, got lightheaded putting laundry away (although not out of breath)
Give me some hope that things will improve soon

I'm on Day 8, still feel crap. Sorry.

DoorbellsSleighbellsSchnitzel · 19/10/2021 08:48

Days 1-4 in bed all day feeling awful. Aching, coughing, exhaused. Day 5-6 feeling a bit better, got some washing/housework etc done in between naps. Day 7-8 out of bed and awake all day, pottering around.
Day 8+ functioning but very tired still. Residual cough.

My isolation ended last week, still tired and a bit of a cough, but generally okay.

Had the 2nd AZ vaccine back in May/June.

Getawaywithit · 19/10/2021 08:48

I would say I was a good 3 weeks before I felt well enough to work again.

Paddingtonthebear · 19/10/2021 08:52

Tested positive last Thursday, the worst days were Sat & Sunday, starting to feel quite a bit better today and will prob go back to work this week (work from home though). Husband also had it and had 5 days off but mostly feeling better after that. It affects people differently. Good luck!

wolfstarling · 19/10/2021 08:56

I am on day 5 and can move around the house doing little things - took all my energy to push the bin down the drive and I am resting again.

I was due a booster today and had my 2nd jab in April. I am surprised at just how ill I feel.

Get well soon.

skyblueone · 19/10/2021 08:57

I really don't think matters which vaccine anyone had, I think it's the luck of the drawer in terms of how poorly they might be. DH had AZ vaccine and was poorly for 3 weeks when he got covid, I also had AZ and am on my last day of isolation- I had cold symptoms for two days and have since been fine.

GlumyGloomer · 19/10/2021 14:10

Thanks everyone, and hope you feel better soon @BatshitCrazyWoman
Dh had Pfizer and just has a bit of a headache and loss of taste.
I'm doing better today, the cough has really improved. Still have a headache, but don't feel as generally unwell. Smell and taste have gone now though, so clearly still going. Day 5 now.

Day 4-6 were the worst for me and after a week I was able to resume most jobs around house properly. Lost taste/smell on day 6 and it came back after 3 days. You’re in the worst of it OP, but hopefully it won’t be much longer. Still feel a bit out of breath a week later though so take it steady!

Wagsandclaws · 19/10/2021 14:33

Tested positive last Tuesday. Felt awful weds, Thursday and Friday but started to improve on sat/sun.

Taste and smell gone completely, feel a bit tired when I make any effort and I have a sore chest but I am on steroids for the dip in my asthma that the covid caused.

I'm hoping that from this weekend I'll feel a lot better, I'm bored and hate being ill. Get well soon Op.

3asAbird · 20/10/2021 04:59

Hope you are all feeling better soon.
Unfortunately even if double jabbed people still seem catch it and feel quite rough.

junebirthdaygirl · 20/10/2021 05:42

Got it in September. First 5 days the worst. Massive exhaustion, pains, cough, blocked nose. Like a flu. In bed practically full time. Slowly began to get better then. But it took a good few days to get back to normal. Listen to your body and rest, rest.Lots of liquids and advice l got was move about so chest keeps open. If you try to push through you will prolong it. I took little walks around the garden..weather was OK then.

GlumyGloomer · 20/10/2021 07:25

Thanks everyone. It's so variable isn't it?
@Wagsandclaws it's tough being stuck inside. Hope you feel much better soon.

I felt awful for 2 weeks but it was 3 weeks before I got any energy back. It was a bit deceptive, some days I thought I was getting better and the next day would be worse again. Give your self time to recover. Rest well

MsAwesomeDragon · 20/10/2021 07:49

I had it in September. I felt really quite ill for a week or so. I was pretty much in bed for a week, where I didn't want to do anything other than sleep and drink lemsip occasionally. By the end of my 10 days isolation I was down to just one nap a day and was in the living room watching TV. I went back to work just under 2 weeks after my positive test.

My friend, who had the same vaccine in the same week as me, caught it about a week after me. She's still off work 3 weeks later, and has been signed off until the middle of November. She's completely unable to stay awake for more than a couple of hours at a time. Making breakfast exhausts her for the rest of the morning, then the same at lunchtime, etc. She's sleeping about 18 hours a day and still feels exhausted.

Of the 2 of us, I'm the one people expected to be more ill because I'm vulnerable, whereas she's absolutely fit and healthy, always active, etc.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 20/10/2021 07:52

I had about 4 days of awful headache, lost taste and smell then had on and off tiredness where I wanted to sleep for around 16 hours a day that lasted about 3 weeks

NomoreSmiggle · 20/10/2021 07:54

I don’t know not had it but I do know that rest is paramount - to prevent long covid. Those who do not rest when they have Covid are more likely to suffer from long covid.

GlumyGloomer · 20/10/2021 11:37

I volunteered for antibody testing, since I've done hundreds of finger prick tests with GD.
The first kit just arrived, and I am quite scared of the amount of blood they want!
I don't want to be a wimp and waste the resources that went into the kit but I'm wishing I hadn't agreed to it.
