Covid headaches - does anything help?

I'm day 8 today and today the headaches and nausea are the worse symptoms. Ibuprofen and paracetamol don't seem to touch the pain - can anyone suggest anything else to ease the headaches or is it just time and I need to be patient?

DH had the same. He spoke to his GP and was prescribed co-cadamol. They helped. His headache was severe and lasted for about 9 days. Hope you feel better soon.

Thank you - that's good to know if things don't improve x

Sorry if I sound like captain obvious but are you drinking plenty of water? Much more than you usually do?

I am now in week 3 of the headaches. It is lessening now but really nothing touched them, not even cocodamol or migraleve. Just lying down in the dark.

Tiger balm helped my covid headaches

Lougle · 18/10/2021 20:29

You'll have to wait until tomorrow because you've had ibuprofen, but 3 aspirin dissolved in coke may help. My head has been bad so I eventually took my migraine meds, but aspirin is pretty much as good.

Thanks for all the advice - I'll keep making sure I'm well hydrated too. Honestly so many different symptoms that come and go but the head is def the worse at the moment. Wishing everyone else a quick return to normal too Smile

Soluble paracetamol and anti sickness tablets were the only things that made me feel even a wee bit better, and lying really still to stop myself being sick.
The headache is awful though, I hope you feel better soon 💐

Solpadeine max helped me deal with the covid migraines and body aches.

Haven't had covid but when I have a really bad migraine naproxen and paramol have the biggest impact in my experience. You can get both over the counter from a pharmacy.

I hope you feel better soon.

How are you feeling now @swizzlestix? Hopefully much better.

swizzlestix · 21/10/2021 19:32

Thanks so much for asking, so thoughtful - generally it's eased and I think oh brilliant it's going now, then bam, it comes back again a bit harder!
Overall though, the good periods are getting longer ( it's now day 11).
Hope everyone is gradually getting well again too x

My experience has been that recovery is slow but does pick up speed after a fortnight. Sounds as if you've turned that corner at last x

Whyarewehardofthinking · 22/10/2021 08:54

I'm having a soak in the bath everyday to help with the fact I feel like I've been hit by a bus, and my head feels better after that.

This is my second time with Covid; I discovered this helps me last time.

andynarwhal · 22/10/2021 09:09

Sorry to hear you're suffering. I found the headaches / exhaustion awful. Cocodamol, tiger balm, hot and cold compresses and (bear with me a bit woo) a shakti mat and pillow really gave me some instant relief especially coupled with some meditation music (YouTube). I've started using it for migraine as a result and it does seem to help. Feel better soon!

wobblywinelover · 22/10/2021 09:32

The headaches are just awful, worst bit of covid I think. I was ill for about two and a half weeks before they lifted, nothing worked for mine but some good ideas on here. Night nurse liquid helped me sleep
