PCR test?

This is probably a really stupid question.

My 4 year old started school September and is as expected picking up every single germ.

She has already had RSV and was off school for over a week. Then ended up with a kidney infection, throat infection and ear infection all at once. Both times pcr taken and negative.

Now this week she is white as a sheet with red eyes, look quite sore. She has runny nose, the mucus makes her cough every now and then but not coughing loads. She has been complaining of tummy ache and back ache around the kidneys again. Her urine results came back no infection but blood (possibly from the infection two weeks ago). My friends daughter has just tested positive (we haven't seen them in weeks) but test and trace called to ask her about symptoms. They have asked about tummy ache, backache and red sore eyes.

Do I get a pcr? She doesn't have the main symptoms to get a pcr

I wouldn't even class it as a cough, it's more a cough once to clear her throat

I would do a PCR in this situation, or you'll just be wondering/worrying - she has a new cough (allbeit a small one) so it's not dishonest.

The symptoms you mention are pretty common with Covid, especially in children.

If you do a PCR she will have to isolate at least until she gets a negative result as she has symptoms.

If you aren't comfortable with isolating/getting a PCR you could just do regular LFTs whilst she's unwell. They're pretty reliable if used regularly.

@BlackInk

Thank you. Yes we have been doing the lft for the last week (since her pcr) all negative. I Will book a pcr just to be on the safe side.

I have a feeling she is just really run down.

I'm also having a panic as new baby is due in two weeks.
