Should we be avoiding indoor mixing? Confused!

On Thursday FIL tested positive on a LF test and then confirmed positive on a PCR. My DH works with him and had been at work on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. So he is a close contact.

DH called 111 for advice and was told he didn’t need to go for a PCR unless he develops symptoms (he doesn’t have any), and that T&T would probably contact him if FIL provided his details, which he has done. They haven’t contacted him as yet.

We’ve both been doing daily LF tests since Thursday (all negative) and are double jabbed. But I feel unsure about whether we should just be carrying on as normal or should be avoiding indoor mixing, going on buses, to the supermarket etc. We have a toddler DS and I’m not sure whether it’s ok to take him to indoor toddler groups etc for the time being; am I being too cautious? I am off work until 1st November so that’s luckily not a consideration at the moment.

According to the latest guidelines (assuming your are England) you can continue to go about as normal since you are both double jabbed and (I assume) do not have symptoms.

You are ‘advised’ to at least get a PCR, but that is up to you. You could also consider testing daily with LFTs, but again you don’t have to. You are also asked to consider reducing your contacts, but again you don’t have to.

Basically, there are not rules just guidance and adviseHmm

You can carry on as usual if double gabbed but advised to get a pcr test and if you don't have symptoms you do not have to isolate whilst waiting for results!

But of course common sense should be used. You don't have to isolate but wear a mask when needed, hand hygiene, social distancing etc!

I think close contacts so DH - but it could be household instead - are advised to limit non essential social activities for a time "where possible" That's what we did.

Thanks all, that’s helpful. We’ve been erring on the side of caution so good to know that’s the right thing to do. Will continue to test daily, wear masks etc. for now.

Thanks so much for being considerate of others OP. My baby was born with a health problem that means we have to be careful and yet also want to go to baby groups (so we keep our distance and wear a mask when I do go). But I really appreciate other parents being careful around my baby!
