DC's nursery/school

I don't really know the point of my post but I'm so annoyed/confused and my DP doesn't seem to understand why so thought I'd rant on here Grin

The school my DC goes to has been quite empty the last week due to a lot of children getting Covid, I had a message earlier on our school app saying that there has been a positive case in DCs nursery. It had a letter attached which stated my DC could still attend nursery as long as they have no symptoms, and that the test and trace app will inform us if the positive case is a close contact..I'm sorry but how does an app know who my DC is running round with at nursery?
It then went on to say that if your child is under 5 they do not need to be tested unless someone in their household is positive..the whole nursery is under 5, so surely most of these children will not be tested (unless obviously their sibling/parent/guardian has it). It's just going to go round and round.

I suppose what I wanted to say is the new guidelines are stupid and I know there's a million threads stating the same but I just wanted to get that off my chest Angry

Also just to be clear I don't want schools to close or to have to test very young children daily I just think the way this is being done is silly!

So you don’t want schools to close…you don’t want them to get tested… but you don’t like the current measures which essentially goes off patient symptoms and takes appropriate action (the way medicine and healthcare generally works).
The government whether we agree or not has chosen the route of protecting adults with the vaccination, hoping that the fact that children v v v rarely become seriously ill with covid doesn’t change and otherwise continuing with life as much as possible. I agree sending a child into nursery when 4/6 members of a family are ill with covid seems madness but that’s the decision that has been made.

@CarryOnNurse20 haha you're completely right, hence why I said I don't know the point in posting! I just find it strange that we are going from isolation and whole year groups being told to stay off to now just sending our DC into school whether there is proof they have it or not.

We’ve got vaccines. We are doing boosters. Kids deserve their education. I’ve got covid. Half my daughters class has covid. She doesn’t have covid (yet) & I fully believe she should be at school getting an education while she is not ill.

Likewise, my younger daughter is also not ill. Therefore she will be in nursery unless they are willing to give me my £52 a day back.

I’ve chosen to lateral flow both my kids every morning before sending them in.
