Can children opt to have the vaccine at a vaccine centre?

My son has said he doesn't want the vaccine (I actually think he should but it is obviously his decision). I think he's actually worried about the injection rather than anything else.
I accompanied my 16 year old for her vaccine, we picked a time and location to suit her and went together. She did actually suffer side effects and wasn't well at all the following couple of days.
I can't seem to find any information that shows the younger children will have the same options.
I also don't trust the school not to try to talk/guilt my son into having the vaccine despite him saying he doesn't want it. The school have form for this, this isn't just me being paranoid.

Good question, I hope the answer is yes.

My DD is too young for this to be an issue yet but she has SEN and is utterly phobic of any type of medical treatment. Any jab she has in the short to medium term is going to require my presence! Although she would probably comply rather than risk the wrath of a teacher, I think that would be incredibly traumatising for her and make any further vaccinations even more difficult for her to accept.

Maybe soon? Although now they are doing the boosters they will be pretty busy again I suppose.

Totally agree. My DS was due to have his at school, they did everyone apart from 2 forms as they ran out of time and have said they will have to come back. So so frustrating. Surely if we had an option to take them to a clinic it would take pressure off the nursing teams.

I’m in ROI. My 16 year old daughter was completely in charge of her ownvaccine they asked me nothing and were clear I had no say. They asked my 12 year old for permission but all of the medical history questions were directed at me. I wonder what the UK situation is.

Mine will miss it as he had covid and has to wait 28 days before able to have it. There must be some way to mop up these odd cases.

The plan is there currently is no plan to do mop up sessions. You would hope at some point someone would make a plan or at least plan to make a plan but this is the government we are talking about.
