Why did you take a PCR if you had no symptoms?
No I wouldn't take another PCR

Haiyaa · 14/10/2021 09:10

No. Not all covid is symptomatic and LFTs less sensitive than PCR. You need to isolate.

TippledPink · 14/10/2021 09:11

Even if the 2nd PCR was negative you would still have to isolate as you have had a positive one.

MissSkate · 14/10/2021 09:13

Took it to convince DD how easy they are to do as she has asd

No, the positive PCR is confirmation enough. Have Test and Trace contacted you? My DD received a positive PCR yesterday and we were called within the hour.

WTF475878237NC · 14/10/2021 09:14

There was an article in the guardian about tests yesterday. But you should trust the PCR results and count yourself lucky you are asymptomatic!

MarshaBradyo · 14/10/2021 09:15

No just use the positive one

ifonly4 · 14/10/2021 09:15

I don't see what you'd gain from doing another PCR. As mentioned before, surely you now have to isolate for 10 days.

hotelharibo · 14/10/2021 09:16

Even if second PCR is negative it doesn't cancel the first one out so you'd still have to isolate.

Why do you think it's wrong? Lots of COVID is asymptomatic

Keke94LND · 14/10/2021 09:21

I had covid in August with symptoms and my lateral flow came back negative! I felt so rough I couldn't go to work and so thought I'd get a PCR test just to be sure, and it came back positive, so I don't think lateral flows are completely accurate

Doomscrolling · 14/10/2021 09:23

Of course you accept the PCR test. Isolate.

RoseAndRose · 14/10/2021 09:58

Yes, you accept the PCR result

Justrealised · 14/10/2021 10:36

I had negative lfd followed by a positive pcr with no symptoms. After two days I was in bed. Isolate and look after yourself xxx

whatswithtodaytoday · 14/10/2021 10:43

A positive PCR means test and trace will be calling you soon and you have to isolate for 10 days. I'm not sure what the point of another test would be? You could book a home one to arrive but it will likely say the same, and doesn't release you if it's negative.

I hope you continue to feel well.

2lsinllama · 14/10/2021 10:56

What would be the point? So you don’t have to isolate? You will already need to do that.

HitchhikersGuide · 14/10/2021 11:20

Why, just why. Stop with all the testing. It seems everyone is just loving the ongoing drama of this but it's an endemic virus like colds and flu. Are we all all going to test for those 10 times a day too to make our lives more exciting and have something to talk about.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 14/10/2021 15:15

No, it's pointless anyway as you still have to isolate even if your next test is negative.

worriedatthemoment · 14/10/2021 16:40

@HitchhikersGuide no not for colds but yes we still legally have to test for covid if we have symptoms
In this case pointless as they have a positive pcr so that has to be followed
But yes we should be testing if we have symptoms or lft if required
My ds just had positive LFT with no symptoms so now isolating until pcr
As he is at college they do twice a week and aa its caught it , means in the next few days he would of gone to college, work- customer facing, football match , competed in a sport etc etc
So without the test thats a lot of places he could of transmitted

I don’t love the drama of testing but having had my previously healthy, 54 year old husband be within minutes of dying on the lounge floor in January, I’ll do anything I can to avoid anyone else having to go through that. And not because my life lacks excitement either.
