Testing positive while working away

What do you do if you test positive while working away (or just staying away from home) that you need to get home from by using public transport?
Basically, there's a chance DH may test positive. Currently working away and would need to get a two hour train home. Obviously if he is positive he shouldn't be getting the train to come home and self isolate like he would if he had taken the car there

You don't isolate anymore on the basis you MIGHT get it. If I am sat in the car for an hour with him then stop for fuel, I now can't assume I've got it and not fill up. Especially after testing negative all week when DC has been positive. And when other DC can carry on going to school as they are under 18 so don't have to isolate...
I could get the fuel

I'm amazed the fuel thing is still an issue on here. During the first lockdown everyone was going on about how inconsiderate it was to drive anywhere because you needed to get fuel (plus dangers of accidents, breakdowns etc).

But we are 20 months in! You cannot get covid by touching things! OK, there is a tiny chance that someone with covid might sneeze all over the petrol pump. But it's pretty hypothetical. And I personally have no intention of licking the petrol pump!

Anyway OP I hope your DH stays covid-free!
