To have or not to have (a vaccine)?

Hi, so far, have avoided covid vaccine or covid itself. DH works with public (not health care), he is fully vaccinated, we have 2 DCs, going to 2 different schools, I work from home.
After couple of people I knew died from covid within 2 days, I got really scared and booked myself for vaccination. It's tomorrow and I am petrified. I am not antivax, I am just really really scared of getting clots, dying and leaving my DCs.
Please, give me positive stories from your own experiences.

I had the vaccine at 16 weeks pregnant. Pfizer. No side effects. Just a sore arm. I had cleared my work calendar the next day expecting worse ! Second jab was exactly the same. No adverse effects. Healthy baby now here.
Being pregnant at the time and the U.K. having only just at that time approved it for preg women I asked two of my gp friends for their thoughts. Both told me stories of young mums with awful complications of covid. And I have to say I saw much more risk from catching covid - in terms of dying and leaving my kids - than from the vaccine.

@reallyscaredof glad you managed to do it-

I had my second today- was a MASSIVE mountain to climb- guess it might have felt the same for you too…

We drove there, panicked, u-turn came back out then u- turn went in

I was nervous snd told the nurse I don’t want to do this but will go ahead…somehow it felt better to say it out loud.

Anyways, it’s in now…hopefully I’ll live!

Confused10101 · 14/10/2021 11:16

@reallyscaredof how are you feeling?

reallyscaredof · 14/10/2021 13:57

Update: felt achy all over at night, similar to flu, weak in the morning, but not too achy anymore (1:55pm) now. Wouldn't wanted to go work today (on annual holiday for another week), but I think I will live 😅

@reallyscaredof glad to hear that!

I had mine at 2:45 pm yesterday…feel a bit ‘meh’ today…I’m still worried about adverse reactions- let’s see what tomorrow brings

Confused10101 · 14/10/2021 22:08

@Dancerinthedark01 thank you! I’ll put off reading it until a few more days pass ( fingers crossed with no issues) as if I read it I’ll end up ‘manifesting’ issues..

I'm booked in for my first pfizer shot tomorrow. I really don't want it, I'm terrified of side effects, but if I want to be able to travel and see my family soon, then I have to. I feel like chickening out and just doing a walk in when I feel ready but I'm trying to make myself go at the alloted time. I'm glad OP and others got on ok and were fine!

If you can do a walk when you feel strong enough, then do that. Is how I get my hair cut! If I have an appointment, I wont go!
FromEden · 14/10/2021 22:43

Haha yes, I prefer that too. What is it with appointments? Too much pressure for me!

Try not to worry about vaccine related clots. At first they were more risky because doctors weren't expecting them, they presented weirdly, there was no test, and the usual clot treatment had the opposite effect on them.

However, now there is a simple blood test to identify the problem. If you were to get a bad headache you just go to A&E, quick blood test, and they have the correct treatment if required.

Update: woke up this morning with dull pain on both sides just under my rib cage. Feels like my ribs are going to break or something. Very strange pain, never felt it before. It only feels between when I sit with my legs tucked underneath me. V strange. No other symptoms.

Me, my son age 21 and my 15 year old daughter all vaccinated. No issues apart from sore arm and a little cold afterwards.
We have lived the summer by going to festivals and the theatre and feel safer now.
I don't know anyone who has had complications from the vaccine.

Confused10101 · 18/10/2021 09:31

@reallyscaredof how are you feeling? Hope the pain has gone away…
I’m still ok…well so far

reallyscaredof · 18/10/2021 19:07

Update: pain under ribs (but actually it was level with lowest ribs) all gone, everything is fine again.

Don't know of anyone who had any svaccine side effect over snd above feeling a little knackered
