I tested positive yesterday. My temp is 38.5, I'm coughing a little bit, my nose is completely blocked and im aching all over.

I have 2 very young children who demand my attention all day. I don't know how I'm going to fight this without rest.

I dont really know what to expect and how the illness will develop. I'm so anxious.

I’m sorry to read this and that you are feeling anxious. My ds had a positive lft and we are off for PCR this morning, I’m feeling ill too so can sympathise.
Do you have shopping in? I’d book a delivery slot and order soups and easy food to cook. Can someone bring you essentials?
Make a den in the lounge- you on sofa and make the area as safe as possible so you can nap.

TV and I pad and easy food they can help themselves to (buns, cereal bars, fruit). The next week is just about survive not thrive, they will be fine with reduced standards as long as basic needs are met. Have they got a dad?

Assuming you're vaccinated you may well recover in 2/3 days anyway so don't panic and assume 10 days of awfulness!

Do they have tablets? Can you borrow 1 each if not?

AlexaShutUp · 11/10/2021 07:17

I tested positive in the middle of last week. I'm feeling much better now.

Do an online shop. Eat whatever is quickest and easiest. Use TV/DVDs/tablets to occupy the children.

Hope you feel better soon!

How old are the kids? Do you have a partner who can stay off work? Anyone who can take the kids out to the park for an hour or so?

MegaClutterSlut · 11/10/2021 08:09

Around day 3/4 I started to feel better, hopefully its the same for you. Let the house go to shit, feed the kids whatever is easiest and rest as much as you can.

Cindi85 · 11/10/2021 08:17

I was the same when I had Covid and my heart goes out to you. Take one hour at a time, thinking about the whole time is overwhelming. Easy food they can help themselves to, deliveroo, ignore mess, just get through. Say firmly mummy is ill so I can't XYZ. You will get through it xx

Yup day 9 of isolation for me and I’ve gone stir crazy! Luckily had family and friends do food shops, drop off things. The kids have had to fend pretty much for themselves - we’ve tried to isolate the positives from the negative members in the house - it’s been a logistic nightmare! I felt ill for a week and now feeling more human. As I don’t think I’m contagious anymore (but still wearing a mask) I’ve done a mad clean of the house - it was a tip! Shock
Just read, drink lots of fluids, ensure kids has access to water, snacks, tv/tablet etc and try not to stress. You will finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. I agree it’s not easy with kids Confused x

DesertSky · 11/10/2021 11:48

That should have said just rest, not read, but you can do that! I’m personally sick of Netflix already! Grin

Can you order (or get a friend to buy and drop off) a few cheap and cheerful things to occupy and distract your DC to give you a break?

I'm not sure of their ages but something sticker books, DVDs (often available free from libraries or v cheap at charity shops), play dough, new construction-type toy etc

Ilikeviognier · 11/10/2021 20:50

I’m in a similar boat. I have it, as does my 6 year old so we’re both isolating at home. He feels fine which is of course great, I however feel like shit. Not conducive to playing football in the garden/running around etc etc…..!

snowballer · 11/10/2021 20:58

You may well find that if you're double jabbed, you'll feel much better within 24 hours. Paracetamol every 4 hours will definitely help too, and early nights as far as possible.

DoctorSnortles · 11/10/2021 21:03

Put a towel on the floor. Put a washing up bowl on the towel. Fill with lukewarm water and washing up liquid. Assemble every plastic or tupperware item in the house. Give each child a cloth. They can wash up for about 24 hours while you slump, face down, at the kitchen table or on the sofa, if you are lucky enough to have hard floors in the livingroom or a sofa in the kitchen.
