Symptoms after isolation ends

Hi all,

My dd tested positive for covid 13 days ago, I think we caught it super early on a lateral flow as she didn’t get symptoms for another 3 days.

Her isolation ended last Thursday but she was still unwell (sneezing, blocked nose and sore throat) so she’s stayed in. The sneezing has now stopped but she still has quite a bit of congestion with green mucus and a sore throat. Does she have to stay in isolation until this clears? It says on nhs site to stay in until all symptoms clear unless it’s a cough or loss of smell/taste but this just feels cruel now. Does anyone know who to speak to? Would it be my GP or 111?

Thank you Flowers

Green mucus might need antibiotics. I would check throat in case it’s turned into tonsillitis and see if there are any white spots at back of throat, so maybe ring GP tomorrow. Otherwise it’s just down to if she feels well enough to go to school as she shouldn’t be contagious anymore.

I had a call from test and trace this morning (I’m day 4) and they said if I still had symptoms like the one you described when they call on day 10, they may ask me to continue isolating. Said a cough and smell issues would be ok but sneezing or a temperature could still be contagious. Hth

Thanks both. I spoke with 111 and she said that I can see a GP about her throat but as she doesn’t have a temperature she’s okay to go to school as it’s been 14 days tomorrow. Looks like she may just have a bit of post nasal drip which is affecting her throat. She’s very excited to leave isolation after two long weeks!
