Parent with covid

My sons are out of isolation in the next few days, I’ve just had a +LF so waiting my PCR to confirm it. I know I can run through the rules when test and trace call but I’m being impatient! If the boys go back to school am I allowed to drop them (not get out the car, and tell the school the set up)? I have got friends that could help but that means possibly putting them at risk car sharing as my daughter hasn’t had it so more likely to pass on? Thanks

No you can’t drive your kids to school if you have covid.

Mindymomo · 10/10/2021 07:22

No you cannot take them if you test positive you have to isolate and only go out for medical reasons.

Waves12345 · 10/10/2021 07:45

That’s fine, I’m considering just keeping them at home next week. I wouldn’t expect work set, but based on what they’ve been doing we can carry on and email it/use their logs in for websites. We have a real spike of cases in our rural area and it just seems more sensible than passing it on, especially as my daughter is likely to pass it on.

Whilst officially I think the school has to take the line that your kids should continue to attend school normally (although that may currently be area-dependent), may I just say that, as a teacher, I would be very grateful to you for keeping them home if you're positive.

I've heard that test and trace are now saying you can go out in the car to drop children to school. As long as you don't get out.
See what they say when they ring

Some schools are asking parents who are positive to keep negative DC home.
Also, my eldest DS school is asking their staff to stay at home for 10days if any of their own family member is positive.

Thank you all for your information ☺️. I’ll talk it through with them, I’m presuming if I don’t submit the form/or use the app they will call like they did when my sons PCR came through so I can ask questions?

Have your children had covid or were they isolating for a different reason?

Waves12345 · 10/10/2021 09:23

Two sons have had covid, daughter was off as she’s had an awful cold (lots of -LF, and 4- PCRs). The boys now have really runny noses and sneezing, so probably not the nicest to go back into the classroom knowing they have a parent with covid.
