Are schools told isolation dates ?

Are schools told isolation dates anyone know? I got flustered and told t&t the wrong date for symptoms for dd and as a result her isolation is longer than it needs to be and she's missing a sport event she really wants to do for no reason. If I send her back before the end - will the school send her home? Will try and sort with t&t but not sure if that's possible or if they will call again.

She's already better and she still wouldn't be back until Friday. I told the t&t I spoke to last who confirmed she could go back on Friday but I've not had a new text , the text I have says her isolation ends Saturday - but calls are recorded aren't they so presumably that would be ok re t&t as it would be on a recording ?

Just not sure what info the school would have and if it would cause an issue?

Obviously if she flared up again I'd keep her off , but if she has been fine for 5 days by then?

T&T don't contact the school, however the school will work out the dates taking into account the info you provide along with the day the symptoms started, when the PCR test was taken and the last time this student attended School. . Each case has to be reported to public health. Sometimes these dates will overlap but each child needs to isolate for 10 days.

Well she was at school for 4 days with a very mild cold, testing neg each day on LF. She was off and did a PCR Friday as she suddenly felt awful , but never had any covid symptoms. Much better today. I just did a pcr as was curious. So not sure that anything can be extrapolated .

To some extent maybe she should miss it to be safe especially to be extra cautious re others what with heavy breathing with exertion and to prevent a relapse for herself as Friday she did feel very unwell and I worry about long covid . But I also feel bad as I messed up the dates

I told the school the correct day that onset of symptoms began. T&t asked for the date and that's what I messed up! So
School have the correct info but I worry about having a text saying she needs to isolate until Sat!

I got the dates wrong and test and trace wouldn't change it so my son had to do 12 days ffs. Once it's in the system you cannot override. What a shit show.

tiddlysquat · 10/10/2021 07:40

Oh ok she will just have to deal with it then. What a shit time for kids, they're missing so much.

If school have the correct date, they won't know and won't send her home. But it's a risk with t and t. They won't change it. So it would have up to you if you want to risk being caught.

I almost had to do 3 extra days because I ticked no to symptoms when booking PCR (only asks about big 3) so when my positive test came back I had an 11 day isolation. But when I filled in the more detailed info online which asks about every symptom under the sun it reduced to 8 days isolation.

Very easy to get wrong and sentence yourself to too long at the click of a button though. I'm sorry. I did get frequent phone calls up to the last day so I dont think I would dare risk it if I were you.

tiddlysquat · 10/10/2021 09:25

No we won't risk it, I feel pretty bad about it but it can't be helped .

t+t don't tell the school the dates, but with dd1 I had to send the emails to the school for dd1 and dd2 so that it could be marked as a covid absence.

Honestly, who is checking anyone is actually isolating? No-one. You get phone calls & that’s it. The police aren’t involved. No-one is being paid to go & knock on the doors of everyone self isolating. Legally, you could be fined but you aren’t going to be. The only way you could possibly get a fine is if you told someone you know & they reported it with evidence you were out the house.

I’m not at all advocating people don’t isolate. God no. Please do. But if you have genuinely entered the wrong dates then it’s fine. So long as you don’t broadcast it to anyone, who is going to know?!

I wouldn’t worry if you gave school the “correct” info. There is another thread on here where there was a mix up on dates and T&T were unable to change it. Just don’t bother as long as she does the 10 days (first day of symptoms is day 0 not day 1).

Yeah if it was me I'd just crack on but dd would be so upset if there was a drama over it so I think I'll just leave it . Very annoying you can't rectify mistakes. The council have just texted to say they're calling today which presumably is about the school so if they're helpful I might see what they say to do.
