Sore arm 2 months after vaccine.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this? I had my second AZ vaccine on August 1. It really, really hurt as it was happening - the nurse dismissed this and told me I'd tensed my muscle and shouldn't have done, but I only did that as a reflex because it hurt so bloody much! It felt like the needle went in really high, almost on my shoulder, and felt nothing like the first one.

Anyway 2+ months later my arm still hurts. I can't rotate my shoulder or raise my arm without pain, there's a dull ache all the time and that arm feels a lot weaker than the other one. Some mornings I can hardly move my arm at all until after I've warmed it up in the shower.

I haven't spoken to a GP, I suppose I'm a bit worried about being dismissed as a hypochondriac/vaccine sceptic. Anyone else?

You can get a frozen shoulder if vaccines aren't admintered correctly. There's a term for it that I can't remember. Any vaccine can do it, it's not a covid jab thing. Let me see of I can remember what it's called and post a link. Hang on.

Why tell us if you won’t tell your doctor?

Oh do speak to your GP! A friend of mine had issues after her jab as the needle did some damage and she is now having physio which focuses on her rotator cuff. Ironically she has always been really needle phobic because she was terrified of the idea of it damaging her arm somehow, got hypnotherapy so she could have the vaccine and then this happened - I felt very sorry for her. I think it's pretty rare but they took it seriously and she's now improving after quite a lot of physio but she has been in lots of pain (she's still very glad she got the vaccine by the way, just a bit gutted about the arm problem!)

Oh right, I think I will try and speak to a GP then. I haven't so far because I've just been expecting it to wear off, and because appointments are s hard to get anyway atm and it felt a bit trivial. But sounds like it's worth investigating. Thanks.

Agree with the PP that this isn’t about the COVID vaccine, it’s about how the injection was done and can happen with any vaccine. I had a similar problem after my first COVID jab. Can you afford to pay for private physio? I had two sessions and my arm is pretty much completely better. I had previously spoken to the GP twice and she wasn’t interested. Physio should help.

My second jab - in the other arm - I had no problems at all. The physio said I had just been really unlucky first time round.

No I know it's probably not specifically about the Covid vaccine, I suspected it was just a botch job. I could scrape together money to see a private physio I suppose, I'm going to see what the GP says first.
