Hi Everyone,

We had Covid rip through our house over the past 3 weeks. Everyone has got better except my DW, she still struggles to do anything without getting out of breath and is constantly tight chested, she just about manages to dress and wash, thats about it. She is on Day 18 now, the GP prescribed steroids for her which she finishes today but they dont seem to have done anything. She is double jabbed with AZ as was I.

Has anyone else experienced the breathlessness, if so how long did it affect you for? Did it gradually get better or did you turn a corner quite quickly? She cant do anything, she is signed off work and she has lost her sense of smell and taste and is miserable, I wish I could do something to help her get better.

I hate to say I suffered terrible breathlessness and chest pains. It was awful for about 8 weeks, then improved very very slowly it has taken 16 months to get back to myself.

3-4 months for me for the breathlessness. Recovery was very slow at first then picked up in pace but w frequent relapses if I overdid it, or had my period. I am still getting occasional relapses 18 months on. Horrible. Sad

Encourage your wife to rest, rest and rest some more. When she is feeling a little better she can start w v gentle exercise and build it up but this is an illness that can require a proper convalescence, which is a hard thing to come to terms with if you are used to feeling fit and healthy.

Sorry should say I had cv pre vaccine so hopefully things will be dpeedier for your dw but more likely weeks rather than days.

I had breathlessness for about nine months (long covid). I agree with what Porcupine says above, but would add in the tip to breathe deeply as often as she remembers, especially if she can get out into the fresh air. Covid breathing difficulties are similar to altitude sickness apparently, so getting as much oxygen in as possible is beneficial.

It’s ongoing for me too. The British Lung Foundation website has some breathing exercises on it which I try to practise daily and it gives tips on how to breathe when walking around etc.

Please can someone help! I have paid for NIPT test and had a package sent out to me via the post a few weeks ago. Can someone please point me in the right direction where I can go to have my bloods taken to send it off? I'm really struggling!
