Worried about my 17 year old - advice needed please

My 17 year old had covid just under a month ago she seemed to get a lot better but ever since then shes had a snotty nose - cold symptoms . I don’t know if its still a result of the covid or if its thats she has caught another cold right after.

She has been doing lft tests which have been negative for the last two weeks.

Today she came home from college sounding like a 93 year old smoker - she sounds full up - i tried just putting my ear to her chest and although i am no doctor (!) im pretty sure its wheezy. When i pressed her she said that when she goes up and down stairs anything that takes a bit if energy etc she us feeling a small amount if pain or stiffness in her back between her shoulder blades. She describes it as feeling like a pulled muscle

We have a pulse oxymeter so i tried that when she has been walking around its 94/95 but when shes resting it seems to
Go up to 95/96. I have no idea what that means which makes the whole thing s bit useless really.

No temperture her heart seems a little fast at 100 but she has been walking around all day.

The problem is she says shes fine, she is autistic but functions on her own really well - i am trying to trust her judgement she doesnt want to call the doctor and shes not a little child but my mum senses are screaming.

I have persuaded her to have s nice hot bath in olbas to try and ease it a bit but im really debating if i should be insisting on calling the our of hours doctor.

Any advice would be really appreciated at this point i dont want to be that mum that doesnt her decide herself but at the same time im worried.

Chest infection was my thought when you mentioned the pain when walking up and down stairs

AdelindSchade · 04/10/2021 18:46

I would get her checked out OP or at least phone for advice. Especially with the covid - I know of people who have had post viral.complications.

AdelindSchade · 04/10/2021 18:47

I'm sure she is fine though but just rrassure yourself.

Hairwizard · 04/10/2021 18:52

Id be on to gp. Get her checked out and examined. Defo needs her lungs checked at the very least. Better safe than sorry. Hope she feels better soon.

Elieza · 04/10/2021 18:55

The British Lung foundation says it should be 95% or more. If under oxygen may be required.

If she’s been like this for a few days a regular doctors appointment should be booked to check and see if there is any infection that needs treated.

If it’s getting worse and you are worried phone 111 out of hours and get advice.

Trust your mum senses every time. She needs to be checked over.

ittakes2 · 04/10/2021 19:36

Her sats are a little low I would ring 111.

lannistunut · 04/10/2021 19:38

I would get her checked out, ring 111 and tell them about the chest rattle, the pain and the sats. Good luck Flowers

Porcupineintherough · 04/10/2021 21:15

Id get her checked out but that pulling feeling bw the shoulder blades is what I got when I was recovering from covid and had done too much physically. It did resolve after a few weeks.

WinterCarlisle · 04/10/2021 21:16

Trust your mum senses every time. I was told this by an A&E Dr when my middle child was ill.

I hope she feels better soon.

GoodnightGrandma · 04/10/2021 21:20

She definitely needs seeing with that pain.

Ifonlyidknownthen · 04/10/2021 21:40

Op I had very similar a few years ago when I was 30 and I had pneumonia they had developed from a viral infection, get her looked at if you can

myfacelookslikeatoe · 04/10/2021 21:44

Yes op please get her checked out. Hope she’s okay and better soon.

Makinganewthinghappen · 05/10/2021 10:29

We have sent an e consult to the gp which says they should get back to us within 48 hours so hopefully we can have her checked
