How long after one dose of vaccine are they deemed vaxxed?
If only one dose will this be acceptable for travel abroad or will they still need pre travel PCR?

No one dose means not fully vaccinated

MegCleary · 03/10/2021 18:47

Weird isn’t it, as they haven’t decided if they are having two shots yet.

Leaves them in a kind If limbo

Kjcf · 03/10/2021 19:29

We have decided to wait until they decide on a 2nd shot, as the only benefit we can see is easier travel

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 03/10/2021 20:11

I think it’s 2 weeks after being vaccinated that the U.K. government will considered them vaccinated. Unfortunately for travel, nowhere else will until they’ve received a 2nd jab.

Goingdriving · 03/10/2021 23:28

It’s very bewildering. I was going to hold off as only benefit for us is travel but we have elderly relatives and vulnerable friends so for their sake the kids have been jabbed. It’s all a bit half added though as I’d prefer them to have 95 per cent protection rather than 50 to make them even less likely to spread it. And will the second shot even count as double jabbed if it’s given in the spring (which is what I read the Uk government was considering). I’m amazed more people aren’t making a fuss about this.

Goingdriving · 03/10/2021 23:29

We even considered waiting for them to get Covid at school (which had 40 cases last week) but if we did that they couldn’t spend any time with their grandparents on the interim

Kjcf · 03/10/2021 23:47

Yes I don’t get why more fuss isn’t being made. They are basically being left in limbo for travel abroad.

Here siblings of positive cases are being told to self isolate but any that are more than 2 weeks post vaccination, don't have to. As the parent of a CV teenager who hasn't been offered his first vaccination yet, I would be grateful for one vaccination.

boogiebogie · 04/10/2021 22:09

They are waiting to see the data from Israel i think? Is it to see if myocarditis cases recover fully or are more serious?

Geamhradh · 05/10/2021 06:43

In Italy (and possibly the rest of the EU) the EU pass is generated automatically 12 days after the first vaccine but becomes null and void if the second vaccine isn't taken. So, here, they are sort of considered vaccinated after one dose.
Do UK teens not receive anything like that? Or is it that nowhere there accepts just one dose?

megletthesecond · 05/10/2021 06:45

I'm worried about this. DD may be going to France with school in April. If she only has a 1st jab will she even be allowed to go.
