2 people positive in house - how often to test?

Husband and son both positive. Me and other son negative. Children are 5 and 6 so bloody impossible to keep them away from one another.

My latest test was negative. So my q is - how often do I need to test? Am I a sitting duck here just waiting for the test to turn positive? Same question for the negative child.
Thanks.

@MrsKDB

How do you get so many PCRs without the three main symptoms though? My partner categorically refuses to lie to get one. I think I people on here are just making up guidelines that are not actually real.
@MrsKDB there is an option to say you are a close contact. You don’t have to lie about having symptoms.

If you are not isolating and being around other people a lot eg school/work I would test every day, that's what we did with my two kids when I tested positive and they were negative on their first PCR.

Friend's son tested negative for ten days after exposure to her (positive) and then tested positive on day 11.

You can get a PCR due to close contact. Or if you are on the Zoe study, or to be honest when ever you want. There is no shortage. The drive through test centre near me has been entirely empty every time I have been there.

Track and trace advised ds to get PCRs on day 2 and 8 after a known contact. Nothing about lateral flows so we’re doing them twice a week like we were anyway. To get the PCRs we just took him to our local walk in centre and said we were there on T&T advice.
We’re in Wales if that makes a difference.

My child was positive after being told to test because of an exposure at school.
We did daily LFTs for adults leaving the house, we also did 2x PCRs each around 6 days apart. No one else got a positive.
1 sibling who previously had Covid went back to school - he got a PCR plus a couple of lateral flows. Another sibling stayed home as they had a cold (which started before Covid exposure) - lots of testing for them. They went back to nursery on day 8 of Positive child's isolation.
During this time we didn't completely isolate (other than the positive child) but we did end up doing less and we offered people we were due to see the chance to cancel/change plans (most did!)
