Travel PCR for under 16 who just caught covid

Does anyone know what happens in the above scenario. My 12 year old has just tested positive a week ago. We are travelling over half term and like most countries, we will need to take a PCR test 72 hours prior to flying.

Given the viral particles can still be picked up up to 90 days in the PCR test, does anyone know if there are any alternatives for those with natural immunity. I'm not trying to avoid taking the PCR for my son but naturally worried if he continues to test positive when we do the fit to fly PCR?

The NHS covid pass apparently is only available for over 16s. So what should under 16s do?

Thank you for reading

It depends on the country you’re travelling to whether an alternative is acceptable.

Thanks but the UK doesn't offer a covid pass / alternative. So even if the other country accept it, it seems I can't get it.

I thought I'd read on a few countries' travel requirements that proof of having tested positive for covid in the previous 90 days meant an exemption from testing (as if you were fully vaccinated).

Yes that's right but how do I obtain the proof? Does anyone know how to do that?

NHS covid pass provides proof of natural infection but only if you are 16 years or above

She may well not test positive despite having had Covid recently. Most people don't.

My positive tests stopped after a few days despite still having symptoms.

DD's friend caught Covid the day she was due to travel home (working abroad for a year). 10 days later she tested negative and could come home again with no issues.

If they were testing positive I believe you cbs request a 'pass' from your GP. Not sure if you get it free or not, or how long it takes to sort.

I presumed you'd show the results of a positive PCR test rather than anything more formal?

Thank you all . I will speak to the GP.
