Nursery covid

My child goes to nursery 2 afternoons a week but has not been in for almost three weeks because of a bad virus with temperature and cough. Seems better now apart from a lingering cough, we’ve done a PCR -negative. One member of staff at the nursery has tested positive for covid and 8 children sent home with symptoms last week but I’m unsure if they were positive cases. I called the nursery a few days ago to ask if child was allowed back and they told me it’s best not too because it will cause viral overload if they catch covid, but if I want to send them with neg test results I can.
What would you do? I mean I don’t have anywhere to go it was just for the socialising for my child.

Send them in. I’m not being funny but I’m not sure nurseries are qualified to diagnose viral overload situations?!

Send DC in, the nursery is going to say that, as they are probably short staffed.

Better except for a cough = recovered. If he was still fighting off a virus then he could be moe vulnerable to other infections, but a lingering cough weeks later is just clearing his system not actively fighting infection. I would want to check the staffing situation to ensure there is no corner cutting for care, but apart from that of course fine to go in.

What do the nursery know about 'viral overload' are they doctors?

I think if he’s been ill enough to be off for three weeks, then I wouldn’t send him back into somewhere with a known covid outbreak if I didn’t have to.

Is he happy enough at home with you or is he desperate to get back?

Apparently it was just one member of staff that tested positive no more cases. They said I can send him in (his negative pcr was a week ago) I said it’s not a new cough he’s only coughing a little bit now and again (chesty) seems fine but they said they’ll send him home for safety if he’s coughing too much. I think it’s abit OTT to be honest.
He’s not desperate to go back but I thought it might be good for him to socialise etc. He screams at the drop off so I’m still debating pulling him out and waiting till he’s 3Sad
