We have Covid in the house, just one of our 3 kids. The rest of us have all tested negative on PCR and are due day 8 PCR on Friday. Also negative LFT yesterday.
Ds1 (so far negative)now has lots of red patches all over his tongue - is this a Covid thing do you think?

Is it sore? I got tested earlier this year because I'd read that a sore tongue was one of the lesser talked about symptoms. My test came back positive

There's a lot of hand, foot and mouth about at the moment - could it be that?

dottyaboutstripes · 29/09/2021 10:06

He says it stings a tiny bit. He's 17 so I don't know if that makes hand foot and mouth less likely?
I'll get him to do LFT when he wakes up (day off college 🙄)

Google Covid geographic tongue.

glitterelf · 29/09/2021 10:16

Sounds like geographical tongue, my DD suffers with this and generally is an indicator that she's fighting an infection somewhere. I would definitely get him tested.

My DD also suffers from geographical tongue and is just recovering from covid and yes during her isolation it definitely flared up

Bobholll · 29/09/2021 21:10

Yes! Me! My tongue had never been the same since covid! It’s like long covid but just my tongue 😂

It’s sore all the time, with red patches but nothing else of note. It flares up & down. When it’s bad, it’s literally agony to eat anything like oranges. It’s bizarre. I’ve had blood done to check for B12 deficiencies etc & all OK. Doc thinks it’s a covid side effect 🤯

SusannahHolmes · 29/09/2021 21:14

Yes. Here's mine at the end of covid. It's fine again now!

erictries · 29/09/2021 21:42

Dentist here. It's geographic tongue. Harmless and common. There's definitely increasing reports of cases associated with Covid. No need for active treatment.
