If my DC had Covid 4 weeks ago and I have it now

do they need to isolate from me?

My DC had Covid in August and came out of self isolation on bank holiday weekend. I now have it and am isolating in a bedroom, my question is do I need to if they’ve recently had Covid? Can they catch it again so quickly?

If DC are under 18 or double jabbed, they no longer have to isolate due to close contact. It’s recommended that they get PCR test, but as they’re had it less than 90 days ago, they could still show a positive from then, if Test and Trace contact you, ask them if your DC need to get tested, but they shouldn’t need to isolate anymore.

I think OP is asking if she should isolate from her children rather than whether the children should isolate

@dementedpixie that’s exactly what I’m asking, do I need to isolate from DC? I have no idea how quickly reinfection can occur.

I am isolating in a bedroom but was interested to know if that’s necessary as they’ve so recently had it.

Unless they have certain vulnerabilities it's very unlikely and would be very.unlucky for them to catch it again so soon, so I wouldn't isolate from them in your situation.

Ive posted before about this but I’m double jabbed and my son slept in my bed while he had covid and I didn’t catch it. I wouldn’t be going of your way to stay away from your children especially if they now have antibodies.

They’re not CEV but neither have been vaccinated as you can’t until 28 days after Covid so they’re getting them next week.

They’re 16 and 17, 17 year olds vaccine was due the day after they tested positive 🤦‍♀️

If they've had it recently there is close to 0% chance of them getting it again this soon. So no need to isolate away from them.
Hope you only have mild symptoms OP

No.

itsgettingwierd · 28/09/2021 07:17

I wouldn't.

I know someone who's dc1 has it and 9 days later dc2 tested positive.

LP and couldn't isolate from either. She never caught it.

Thanks all, I might stay in the bedroom to be on the safe side but let them into the en-suite as it has the only shower. Main bathroom just has a bath.
