Self isolation help?

Need some guidance please.
We have 5 DC, 3 of whom have Covid symptoms and are awaiting a PCR test each. Do the other two DC attend school or do they have to isolate until PCR test results return?

Depends if you're in England or Scotland.

If Scotland then yes you all isolate and if they are positive then you all take PCR tests too. Anyone with a negative PCR is released from isolation

In England I don't think the rest of you need to isolate but you are advised to all PCR test if their tests come back positive

Can't you just follow common sense?

Regardless of rules surely keeping everyone home is the responsible thing to do? Assume it isn't a childcare issue if the others have to stay off anyway?

Technically they can go to school but we were asked by our school in a similar scenario to keep them home as a precaution. Good job we did as we all have it now!

You all isolate until PCR results come back

If positive then the rest of you need PCR tests .

IF you are fully vaccinated / under 18 then a negative PCR releases you from isolation. Positive obviously means 10 days from then isolating.

You can send them to school but people I know have kept siblings off for a few days at least just to be safe and have done LFT every day to check no asymptomatic infection ( as much as is possible)

Those are the scotland rules, not England

Genuine question which part is different in England?

dementedpixie · 28/09/2021 10:01

In England those that don't have symptoms don't need to isolate while waiting on their PCR tests. The whole family doesn't need to go into isolation; just the person with symptoms

Unless they unvaccinated plus over 18 years old as they would need to isolate

Oh ok.

And if the rest of you do take a PCR then check with the schools what their policy is. My DH had covid so me and DS took a PCR. The school asked him to stay off until he had the results but said if he hadn’t taken one he could have come in 🤷‍♀️
