Tested positive. What can I expect now?

I got a faint positive on a LFT yesterday, confirmed with PCR later in the day. So far, I just have a sore throat and an uncomfortable burning sensation on my chest. I’m double jabbed.

Anyone had it recently and started in a similar way? What can I expect next? Should I be dashing around cleaning my house while I still feel ‘okay’, expecting it to get worse? Or is the ‘mild illness for most people’ thing still accurate?

Do you live alone? If not, have you decided whether to segregate?

Have you booked an online shopping slot if you need it?

Those are the things which we dealt with immediately.

DD has it (we don’t, so far) and she had a headache, was flushed and a scratchy throat days 0-3, then became sinusy, lost her smell, and has very bad fatigue. No temp, cough is rare (3 times a day maybe?)

Everyone is different though!

I have two DC. I’m wearing a mask and trying to stay in my room as much as possible, but they’re too young to be very independent. DM has just dropped off a large shop and DP done a couple of doorstep drops of ‘essentials’ (chocolate and the newspaper!)

I’ve coughed a few times this afternoon, but I’m not sure I’d have noticed them if I wasn’t watching for symptoms. Scratchy throat sounds familiar though!

I hope your DD gets better soon and you don’t catch it Flowers

When my friend had it (before vaccine was available) she was in bed for 2 weeks with each day feeling like severe flu, then back to weok soon after; her DH had a mild cough but no other symptoms; and her children didn’t notice it all despite testing positive.

So we can’t really tell you. I wouldn’t rush around cleaning though, I’d suggest you instead bolster your immune system by getting plenty of rest and taking mega strong doses of vitamin C / eating super healthy etc.

Maybe also stock up cupboard with sore throat spray paracetamol etc and make sure online shopping lined up.

Hope you get well soon xx

I caught it last month, was mild. I felt rough with a high temperature for 2 days but was not bedridden at any point. I'm a single parent and was capable of caring for DS, cooking meals, tidying up, etc. The most annoying part was losing all sense of smell and taste! DS caught it also and he had it more mildly than me.

I had it a couple of weeks ago. I had headache, scratchy throat, loss of smell and fatigue. All very common for double jabbed folk. Interestingly, according to Zoe, although a cough is still common for the unvaccinated, it isn’t so much for vaccinated. I felt rubbish for a few days and then was back to normal apart from a lingering headache.

Meant to say that DH also had it and he just felt like he had a cold.

Thank you. Cupboards are well stocked now and I’m making a mahoosive veggie lasagne that should bolster vit c and keep us going for a few days. DC are already climbing the walls though. As they’re not showing symptoms, DM is going to pop round tomorrow and take them for a walk (we live rurally, no chance of passing it to anyone else) and I’m going to dig through the garage for all the outdoor toys I can find!

My sister tested positive on Thursday(she works in a school) also had the vaccine.
Her cough is horrendous, taste and smell are also gone apart from that she feels ok. I dropped off essentials earlier ice cream and chocolate 😆. No one else in the family has tested positive.
