What are the rules in your office?

The office I work in want us to WFH if we are at all ill. (Unless you know what it is eg. Period related or an ongoing illness).

All well and good but some people have kids and now it's back to school etc they are picking up all the sniffles. So are having to work from home. Which is leading to some management disbelieving that they do infact have yet another cold. It's going to be a long winter!

Everyone is back in thank goodness. No strict rules, just use your brain and try not to get too close. Clean your desk when finished

Everyone is in and unless you think you have covid they won’t make you stay off or test.

We’ve had a few staff in coughing their lungs up for days on end and nobody said anything about it. I know they had not tested because one of them told me (about day 5!) they were going to do a PCR.

Today we had someone in whose child is sick at home with covid. She was waltzing around the office, no issues at all. I know it’s “legal” but legal isn’t necessarily responsible.

Our office is poorly ventilated, the windows barely open and there are several items including packs of biscuits etc that everyone handles all day long.

It’s vile.

We have been in the office since March. Well before March really, but I only started in March. Not every team has been, but in my interview I was told that production declined a bit with WFH so I took that as we have to be in unless we have a solid reason why we can't. I've only worked from home for 2 weeks since and that was only cos I tested positive.

Not sure how I feel about it TBH. Part of me would rather be in the office, the other part is missing the money I was saving by not commuting.

Working from home or office. Windows open . Temp test every morning. Hand sanatize all the time . Wear mask when walking about or within 2 metres .

We have had two unannounced visits from hse. And they asked about risk assesment etc.

@SilverGlitterBaubles

Does wearing masks when moving about an open plan office really make any difference if you are sitting there unmasked all day anyway? Sorry to derail but see this mentioned a lot can't work out if it's good practice or Covid safe theatre.
Depends if you have screens round the desks I guess. But good point.

This is an airborne virus. It doesn’t care if there’s a screen or not between people. Unless those screens reach the ceilings.

I’m a bit on the fence about all the mask-wearing when moving about - and I’m a big defender of (proper) mask wearing!

In our main workspace we don’t have to wear masks - would make our job impossible. It’s about 100+ people on a small stage, with no distancing, but we do have some state-of-the-art ventilation system that provides 100% fresh air constantly. So I guess that mitigates the risk a bit. Everyone is fully vaccinated and/or negatively PCR tested 3 times a week. 5-6 hours a day are spent in this shared space where no Covid measures are observed.

We then have a coffee or lunch break and proceed to the canteen in small groups of say 5 people each, order our food, have a lengthy conversation whilst we eat - without masks on. ‘Please put your mask on when finished eating or going to the toilet, taking your plate back…’. A bit pointless surely?

I guess it reduces the risk a little bit in that I’m only sat right next to colleagues ABC and socialise with XYZ at lunch - but everyone in between is still coming into contact with someone who comes into contact with someone who I then eat lunch with. So yeah, not sure it does much.

If we were distanced to begin with and not having contact with everyone in the team, like you could do in an office, then I’d see the point.

I work in a hospital office, mask wearing at all times still.. X 5 days a week.. It's hideous. Air conditioning not allowed on due to infection control guidelines...

We haven't worked in the office since March 2020, and the space we used is being rented out to another company so I don't see me going back anytime soon!

I love working from home cause I hate office politics, so works out great for me!
